Inspire CARDS Challenge

Well, hello!
It feels like forever since I've blogged.
The end of the month always seems a little slow in the
Papered Cottage blogosphere...just getting projects lined up
for the weeks to follow :)

This is the very last challenge that I'll share at
My Scrapbook Nook
Bittersweet.
I love this final kit with all of the blues, greens and yellows.
Until recently, I've not noticed that I lean towards using this
color scheme quite a bit.   Echo Park definitely hit this one out of the park
(no pun intended) with For the Record 2!

We love a "Pinspo" Challenge at the Nook.
Pinspo is simply finding inspiration on Pinterest.
Normally we post photos for cardmakers to work with, but this
week I've decided to let them choose their very own inspiration.
I found mine on Pinterest:

And here's my card:

So, if you're ever stumped for an idea (which I often am)
head on over to Pinterest!  It's fun to see the amazing things that people create & share!
See you soon ♥

Spider Brew For You

Autumn Greetings!
Welcome to the Monday Blog Hop at
EAD DESIGNS

You should be here from Rose's Blog
Of course, there is some vinyl to be given away today, so
don't forget to stop by the EAD Blog and leave a little comment :)

I love all types of apothecary labels with a vintage flair.
These Stickerz, Wicked Spirits,  from EAD have just a little gothic edge
 to them...aren't they great?

I chose the Spider Cider Stickerz and created a hanging
tag for my glass beverage server.

I applied the Stickerz to a piece of patterned paper and trimmed to size.
I then layered it onto two staggered ovals, added a few velvet flowers by
Petaloo and finished off the top with a little plastic spider cupcake pick :)
Patterned papers by Authentique Paper: Enchanted.
It would also be fun to attach the Stickerz directly to various-sized
glass jars and bottles and create a spooky display!

Time now for Amy Tsurata's Blog!
Thanks for coming by!

Hop WINNER Announced

I'm a little late...

Email me at shellye819@aol.com with your two selections.
Thank you and thanks to ALL of you for visiting and leaving some love ♥

Mummy is the Word

Authentique Paper and Petaloo have teamed up over the week to
bring you tons of inspiration using
 Authentique Paper and Petaloo products!

I've been a Petaloo fan pretty much since it's inception,
so I was pretty much ecstatic when it was announced that we
would be creating with Enchanted & Petaloo!

I love a mini.
I just get a kick out of starting with a blank album, covering it with pretty paper
and then embellishing it to the hilt with fun stickers, ribbons and embellishments.
 It makes this girl *happy!*

I started with a scrolled album from KaiserCraft, which I covered in different
patterned papers from the Enchanted Collection.
The front cover, to me, is like designing a card.
You want the WOW factor...you want to invite peopleinto your album :)
So I always spend a little more time  trying to get the cover just right.
I layered a couple of different sizes of ovals (covered in Enchanted) and
then embellished with the totally  adorable ghost and spider from
Petaloo's Mummies Dazzlers and flowers from FloraDoodles
Mixed Blooms-Sienna and Black Beaded Peonies.

Using Authentique's cardstock sticker shapes and sentiments
makes mini album making fun and easy!

 Velvet Hydrangeas?  Yes, please!
Black velvet just screams Halloween...and Elvis paintings
(sorry, I couldn't resist!)
I created small photo mats using strips of various
Enchanted papers, which I simply machine stitched into place.

On the final two pages, I added the top of a cupcake
pick and a 3-D brad, along with Enchanted 12x12 Detail Stickers.
I like to 'hide' the edges of thick album pages, so I applied
a thick orange jute around the perimeter.  A gingham bow to
the ring completes the mini album and is ready now for photos!

There is a Giveaway of an Authentique Prize Pack!
Just go to the Authentique Blog and leave a comment on each day's
post from this week.  Also, the designers from Petaloo have some
very amazing projects that they're sharing as well.
Good Luck!

Here's wishing you a very wonderful weekend!

Snag'em!

When Imaginisce introduced their
little pieces of art called "Snag'em" stamps
a few years back, I immediately fell in a lot of love!
They're perfect for all sorts of projects, especially if you're
wanting to create several of the same thing, such as cards or tags.
Here are a couple of sweet cards that I crafted
using Snag'em stamps from Monster Mash and Christmas Cheer.

Here's a little tip that makes a lot of difference when stamping with clear stamps:
lay a piece of foam or cloth under your project before stamping.
This allows the paper to meet with all of the image and leaves you
with a clean design!  In coloring in my stamped images, I'm fond of
using watercolor pencils or dye based markers such as LePlume by Marvy.

Supplies: Monster Mash- Mummy, Sugar Skull and Eddie Snag 'Em Stamps;
Spook Alley 12x12 Paper; Tricks & Treats 12x12; Fall Medley 12x12 Paper;
 Glam Rocks - Rhinestuds; Tools- i-rock LED Lighted Tweezers; i-rock;
Big Shot and Lace Scalloped Die and Lollipop Font Die by Lifestyle Crafts

In keeping with the homespun feel of the kraft card I wanted to
create a blanket stitch around the edging, but I didn't want to stitch directly onto the card.
Instead, I took a piece of kraft paper and cut it to the size of the card front. I was then
able to add the stitching without losing the effect that I was looking for!
When adding the Hot Rocks to the stamped trees, I just followed the pattern of the dots
from the Christmas Joy Paper ... nice, neat and easy!

 Supplies: Christmas Cheer- Partridge & Pear Tree Snag 'em Stamp;
Warm Wishes 12 x 12 Paper; Christmas Joy 12 x 12 Paper; Peace on Earth
5 x 12 Chipboard Sticker; Brad Daddies - Small; Hot Rocks Compact - Glitter;
Tools- i-rock; i-top; Paper Punch - Small; i-rock LED LIghted Tweezers and i-rock Bling Pad

I appreciate you dropping in!

Thursday Hip Hoppin'

Greetings to all of our Unity friends
hoppin' with us today!
Welcome to my contribution to this week's hop.
Also, I'm sharing a couple of things that I had posted on
the Unity Blog over the weekend, but haven't shared here
...so you may (or may not) have all ready seen those :)

Here is a list of participating blogs in order:
 Unity Blog
Angie Blom
Jen Buck
Lisa Arana
Renee Aslette
Shellye McDaniel (you're here!)
Stephanie Muzzulin

On this card I've used the
Webster/Unity Co-branded stamp: Dream Big

First, I stamped the butterfly image onto the yellow patterned paper
(from Webster Pages' Girl Land Collection).  I cut the blue patterned paper
to fit the card front and then, using a square die, cut a window from the center.
Using the same square die and one a little larger, I cut a green frame that I added to
the blue paper with a low-thickness foam dots.
I then went back and stamped the butterfly image again onto different papers
from the Girl Land Collection, glittered them and then attached over the stamped
image...I love the 3-D effect ♥

This past Sunday I hosted the Kit-of-the-Month blog post at Unity.
Here are the two pieces that I shared

I used the August Kit-of-the-Month to create the tag above.
I have instructions on how I put it together up on the Unity blog post :)

I love that the KOTMs have both larger and smaller images for you
to work with.  Backgrounds, sentiments, icons and images are all represented!
-----------------------------------------------------

Time now for a visit to the talented and sweet Stephanie Muzzulin!
Enjoy!

Sunday Swing & Halloween Bling

Yesterday was my turn at the blog of
VINTAGE STREET MARKET

I love the new papers that can be found under the “Garden” section
of the Vintage Street Market Shop.
I paired up the pretty print, Engraved Garden by K&CO with the
…I think it coordinates beautifully!

I also used an Olive Paper Bloom by Kaisercraft, as well as a couple of paper
blooms from my stash.  I slipped in a scrap of paper behind two of the
Metal Label Holders and used the Making Memories Alpha Stickers to play out my description.
The sweet vintage-inspired cut-out cherubs sheet can also be found HERE at VSM!

I used a couple of different sizes from the Lifestyle Crafts Lace Nesting Dies
to give the layout more interest, texture…and plus I just think they’re fun!
A couple of old buttons, chip letters and some twine from my stash completes the page.

 Halloween fun ALERT!
Let me say that I have had sooo much fun crafting with the assortment
of vintagey Halloween goodies from Vintage Street!
I adore anything that replicates the Halloweens of yesteryear…
the Happy Haunting- Halloween Greetings from Graphic 45?
Just perfect for making-up cool little wall-hangings or tree ornaments
 or gift tags…lots of possibilities!
For the base, I used a chipboard page from a Maya Road album,
painted it black and then glittered.  I added the cut-out with foam tape
and then trimmed it with aqua tinsel.
I found a few fabric flowers in my stash and added those to the bottom,
along with a couple of vintage tickets hosting “Happy Halloween” using
Making Memories Alpha Stickers.  For the hanger, just string through a bit
of black twill and you’re set!

I have a few more close-up photos up at the
Vintage Street Market Blog.
If you love vintage, then you'll love Vintage Street!
Glad you stopped by  ♥

I'm on the Boulevard...

Bright colors and whimsy and delightful fun...that's Bella Blvd.
I truly cannot wait to get started.

I actually submitted for Layout Lovers & Card Designers and
was asked to do Cards and a bit of Altered Projects here and there :)
These are a few of the projects that I submitted:

LAYOUTS

Thanks to all of you for the constant support and kind-words.
Each and every one (okay, except for the occasional spam...) warms my heart ♥

I'm Baking at the Bakery!

Yep, that's right!
I'm a full-time baker now at
THE PAPER BAKERY KIT CLUB
(I know...that's corny with a side of cheese!)

Come and see, come and see!
Sarah's kits are one-of-a-kind as she creates a lot of the
very embellishments that go into each monthly kit(s).
When I came across The Paper Bakery at the beginning of the year,
I immediately signed-up!  I fell in love with the unique mixed-media kits
offered, as well as add-on kits which feature the most up-to-date product.
I'll begin with these other lovely ladies in October, so stay tuned :)
Thanks for letting me share!
Back first thing in the morning with just a little bit more "news" hehehe

A Wiggle & A Wobble

...or should I say:
"an EAD and a Wobble?"
I'm happy to announce a fantastic hop of tremendous proportions:
EAD DESIGNS & ACTION WOBBLES BLOG HOP
Have you or do wobble?
Well, it's pretty cool, let me tell ya.
What? what is a Wobble?
Wobbles are one-of-a-kind self-adhesive, action springs
that bring your card (or other project) to life with action!

Okay, before I get to my card, let's settle a little blog hoppin'
business...you should be arriving here from Heather's Blog!
I have a list of the remaining hop at the bottom of my post :)

Now, my card...EAD Stickerz + 1 Action Wobble:

I tried every which way to get my wobble in action, but it just wasn't
happening, folks.  Bad lighting, humidity, rain and the photographer
are the likely culprits.  But TRUST me, that TURKEY wiggles!!
The best part...when you get ready to slide your card into an
envelope to mail, the spring collapses and adds little to no extra bulk.

I used the fun and bright Thanksgiving Stickerz from EAD.
For the turkey, I just applied him to cardstock and then trimmed out before
applying to an Action Wobble.  I did trim just a bit of the wobble too, which was
easy to do and didn't alter it's function at all.

Okay, that's all from me today!  I truly hope that you enjoy perusing
this surely-to-be-fabulous HOP!  Time now to head over
to Midge's Blog and see what she's gotta wigglin' today :)

What Costume?

It's the middle Saturday of the month,
which means it's time for the
AUTHENTIQUE COLOR CHALLENGE

Almond, pumpkin and licorice...sounds like a very interesting potpourri :)
The colors are perfectly represented by Authentique's Enchanted Collection
so I went with a layout of collaged photos taken for the mustache challenge!

I also used the chipboard mustache and hat from Basically Bare
and decided to dress up one of the photos in the actual wares!
I cut the bottom of the paper in a scroll to mimick the contour of the 'stache :)

Here are the details of the challenge:

- You will have until Wednesday, October 3rd at midnight {PST} to enter.

- You will need to create a separate entry for each submission.
{You can submit as many projects as you want!}

- Use the Linky Tool at the bottom of the post to link
 directly to your entry.

- You must provide a link somewhere in your entry back

- Anyone can play along, but you must use products from
Authentique Paper on your project if you would like to be able to win.
{You can add in whatever other products you'd like...
as long as you are using at least 50% Authentique
 Paper product on your project.}

- You must provide a supply list of Authentique Paper
products used on your entry.

So mix up that almond, pumpkin and licorice and come on over & play!
Have a beautiful weekend

Unity + My Little Shoebox

Hello! Welcome to my contribution to the
UNITY STAMP
 and
MY LITTLE SHOEBOX BLOG HOP
I know that this hop will be great fun...who doesn't love the
whimsy of My Little Shoebox designs, right?
**There will also be prizes to be given away**
so be sure to comment as you go :)

You should be arriving here from Renee Aslette's Blog.
If something goes awry along the way, just head back to the

It's New Release Week of My Little Shoe Box stamps at Unity
and here is a peek at the two designs that I had a chance to craft with

I tried this stamp in a couple of different fashions.
I wanted to be able to color in the mushrooms in various colors, so I went
with stamping the background stamp onto the actual card-front.
I incorporated watercolor pencils and markers to achieve the look that I wanted :)
My Little Shoebox: Oh, Deer! Happy Campers and Creek-side Trail Papers
Cream Alphabet Stickers and Coming Home-Soaring Above Paper
This next project actually started out with the intention of being a card :)
Sometimes when you sit and stare at something long enough, you
know it's time to try another avenue!
For the mushrooms, I stamped the image three different times:
onto a swatch of Vintage Shop-Rose Ribbon & Heirloom (back) and
Oh Deer- A Walk in the Woods papers by MLS.
After cutting and piecing them together, I began embellishing with
other elements from My Little Shoebox:
Cream Alphabet Letters; Vintage Shop-Cardstock Sticker; hand-cut butterflies
from Secret Garden-Dorothy and Notebook-Truly Yours.
