Dot & Whimsy

Unicorns and bright, candy colors make the perfect setting for any girl's birthday album! 

  I'm sharing one of my favorite go-to mini scrapbook albums using the

 "Lots of Luck" Collection.  This collection is filled with unicorns, hearts, 

flowers and other non-St. Patrick's Day icons so think of it for your next project!

To get started I chose three sheets of the Petite Print Swiss Dot papers 

and cut them in half as follows:

Green Dot: cut at 5"= 5" and 7" Pages

Pink Dot: cut at 5.5"= 5.5" and 6.5" Pages

Orange Dot: cut at 6"= one 6" page

Next, score all of the pages in half so that they measure the 

height (above) and 6" wide.  Apply a strong adhesive to the bottom opening to

 create a pocket for each page.  I chose to use a binding machine to die-cut the

 holes, so that was also done before the pages were decorated.

Each of the pages were embellished with a photo mat and other components 

such as washi tape, enamel dots, icon die-cuts, stickers and 3D embellishments.  

I also used the cut-apart journal cards to create small pockets on the pages.

  Simply add a thin-width adhesive along the bottom and sides and 

then slip in a tag or two!

I used a sentiment from the new "Rainbows & Unicorns" Doodle Stamps 

for the tag on the cover.  The set includes a lot of generic sentiments that

 can be sprinkled throughout the album.

Today we're getting carded and tagged with these cute, all-in-one

gift card holder tags featuring vintage-style printables and fantastic adhesives from

I've used this set of birthday "vintage kids" printables on a few occasions and 

they're still a favorite to create with...especially quick tags that can be layered with

a few small embellishments.  Everyone LOVES receiving these on a package!

First, I started with some heavy textured patterned papers from Carta Bella.  

For each tag, I cut the paper to measure 6"W X 5"H.  The paper was scored

in half vertically so that it would measure 3"W X 5"H when folded. 

Next, I traced around a gift card to find placement for the adhesive.

I used the Xyron Mega Runner
 (permanent adhesive) to apply runs of adhesive

along the outside tracing of the gift card.  The paper was then folded back in 

half and a pocket for the card has been created.

After cutting out each of the printables, I made them into stickers with the

Xyron 3" Sticker Maker.  This is my #1 go-to and favorite way to make just about 

anything 3" or less a sticker.  Just give the cellophane top a good rub before

peeling off and you have a sticker that will stay put!

Now for the fun of putting all of the tags together:

Each of the tags were dressed with a smaller tag on top, a row of pom poms

along the bottom and all sorts of sweet embellishments from my stash!

To the top, I threaded through a strand of twine for hanging and a

whimsical boutique style bow to complete the cuteness!

Now a gift card (or folded money) can be inserted to the top and added to

a gift bag or card front. Aren't they delightful!?!

Begin by making the base pages.  Start with the Set of Frames from the

 Silhouette Design Store. The largest scallop frame and the ric-rac style frame were

 used and cut from Carta Bella’s Linen cardstock.  The pages graduated in size from 

 4.5”X4.5” for the cover and 6.5”X6.5” for the back page.  Two of the same shape were

 cut and then adhered together to form a sturdier page.

A scalloped mat was cut for the front cover using the Scallop Nesting Dies and then

 layered with stickers from the Birthday Girl Alpha and Element Sticker Sheets.

This particular album is a flip-up style album, so keep that in mind when planning

 out the embellishments and paper’s pattern direction.  Off-set embellishments

 (especially if foam adhesive has been used) so that the pages will rest neatly

 against one another.

 Mix in enamel dots and decorative brads from other collections to dress up the pages.

Because of the smaller design scale, the 6X6 Paper Pad pages are just 

perfect for mini albums!

I typed out the sentiment with my computer and printer onto one of 

the patterned papers and then trimmed to size.  The cute chipboard clouds are

from Um Wow Studio!

Who doesn't love perusing Pinterest for a bit of inspiration!?!

I love this Thursday assignment for Bella Blvd using a single photo from Pinterest:

The inspiration photo spoke color and design to me, so for this card I chose to go

 with the rainbow color scheme. I love stars for boys' birthday cards so I gathered a few

 of them from the Captions Stickers, Paper Pieces and Ciao Chip!  For the center of the

 card I wanted a small sentiment, so I pulled one of the Birthday Boy flags from the pin and

 attached it to the star with foam adhesive. A little border sticker at the bottom not only

 adds color, but anchors the design.

 I love the horizontal line of the leaves found in the inspiration photo, so I chose that aspect

 for the design of this card. First, I adhered strips of Designer Tape to cardstock and 

then trimmed out. I cut the same-sized strips from the "Leaf Storm" paper and then 

placed them in an alternating pattern before stitching in place. Before adding the tape strips,

 I cut one end of each into a V and then added to the card with foam adhesive. 

A simple "hello" spelled out with stickers and small leaf die-cut completes

 this clean-and-simple design.
