New Release
South Pacific & Tea Garden Eye Candy!
**Don't forget to sign-up for the PageMaps U Card Class Giveaway**
Basic Grey
has two new, beautiful collections up for your perusal today
and a chance at winning the collections for your very own!
With "South Pacific", I created a 3-D 12X12 photo frame featuring the
"Map of the World" paper from the collection, along with some ephemera pieces and stickers.
I machine-stitched along the latitude lines and then added a few hand-stitched
X's to give texture. I clustered the embellishments with foam adhesive and then
added Candy Dots to all of the places that I would like to travel to some day!
And here is a quick card showcasing the gorgeous colors and
artwork that can be found:

"Tea Garden" inspired this whimsical and shabby-chic styled banner.
I started with a scalloped chipboard banner set by Maya Road, and painted it black:
I used various dies to craft the rolled flowers, hearts and leaves...they're
perfect for layering! Adding to the element of black, I incorporated some of
the black chalkboard wood veneers from the Evergreen Collection.
And finally, one of my very favorite cards, ever! That bird is the sweetest!

It's Day 2 of the
NOT XYRON, BUT SHOULD BE
Pinterest inspired collection of projects
**Visit Beth's Blog each day this week for a complete viewing of projects**
My inspiration piece came from Rebecca Cooper's Blog:
St Patrick's Day Bunting
Now, since St. Patrick's Day has all ready passed for this year, I decided to turn
my banner into a good luck charm
For the base of the banner, I used a burlap paper by DCWV and a 3.5"W X 4.5"H banner die
by My Favorite Things. Next, using my personal cutting machine and Cambria font, I cut
the lettering from a cream cardstock, ran each through the 3" Sticker Maker and then attached
to the center of each burlap panel. Three of the panel were embellished with a trio
of premade flocked shamrocks that I had on hand, and some felt flowers by Jillibean Soup.
I cut two 3" strips of green ribbon for each panel. I adhered a High Tack Adhesive Dot
to one end of the ribbon and then folded in half to form a loop.
The loops were then attached to the back of each panel with another
High Tack Adhesive Dot. Just be sure to keep the loops wide enough to accomodate
the ribbon that will be strung through for hanging.
I wanted a nice finish to the banner, so I die-cut a backing for each panel from
cream cardstock. I applied adhesive to one side of the die-cuts using the 9" Creative Station
and attached to the back of the burlap paper.
Thanks for joining me today with this Pinterest-Inspired-Creation!

Carrot Banner Wreath
It's challenge time again at May Arts Ribbon!
As the banner says...they give you the ribbon...you create.
You must be one of the first 20 people to sign up, so go --here-- for more info.
Here is a look at the Inspiration Board and Retro Themed Ribbons:
Seriously yummy, right?
For my take on the challenge, I was able to use all but the bottom right green
ribbon in my design. I came up with this cheerful Spring Banner that now
graces one of my larger grapevine wreaths:
To begin, I started with six sheets of scalloped rectangle chipboard by Maya Road.
I cut each piece down into a triangular shape as shown above.
Next, I painted the very top with a lime green acrylic paint.
I used the orange scallop grosgrain ribbon as the base of the carrot. After cutting
the desired lengths for each chipboard piece, I ran the ribbon through a 3" Xyron Sticker Maker.
Just apply the strips of ribbon to the triangle and wrap the excess around to the back.
Where the grosgrain ribbons met, I accented those areas with the yellow loop trim.
I accented the top of each carrot with pink pom trim and the new gorgeous
sequined elastic trim. I tied all of the panels together with the turquoise sheer
ribbon and then attached it to the wreath with a heavy gauged wire.

Skip the Sprinkles...

banner-style bunting and topper!
You can find the sweetest treasures at
and I used several of the shop's pieces to create this awesome cake-decorating set
For my decoration, I had in mind to keep the banner neutral so that it could be reused.
To the die-cut decoration, you could create interchangeable sentiments.
To begin, you will need to gather a few products from the Curtsey Boutique: Five White Glitter
Pennant Embellishments, Red/White Baker’s Twine, White Glitter Vintage Birthday Cake
Embellishment and Petit Four Paper Bow. You will also need three bamboo skewers and a
1.2” -2” Glitter Alphabet Sticker (I used Pink Paislee's Portfolio Stickers)

Center and attach each letter sticker to the Glitter Pennant. Cut approximately ½ yard of the
red/white baker’s twine and lay out across a flat surface. Finding the center of the twine, attach
the middle pennant by applying a thin line of Beacon Fabri-Tac adhesive; twine may also be
attached to the back of pennant if desired.

For the next step, you may wish to use a piece of floral foam to stabilize the skewers while you
work. Tie the banner onto each bamboo skewer and adjust the hanging position as needed. To
dress up the tops of the skewers, two ¼” chenille pom poms can be glued to the top. Hint: Snip
out a small indention in the bottom of the pom poms so that the skewer fits nicely.

Any type of shape may be used to create the backdrop for the Glitter Vintage Birthday Cake
Embellishment! For this project, a 4” oval die cut was used and then layered with a smaller
oval topped with the embellishment. A bow of red/white baker’s twine adds interest to the
embellishment, as well as ties in with the pennant. Below the embellishment, the paper bow
was attached with a Glue Dot topped with a button tied with red/white baker’s twine.

(such as Typewriter orCourier) may be used instead.
You are now ready to top the cake! With a simple banner that says “Happy” this set could also
be used for other occasions such as: retirement, 4th of July, Easter, etc...just change up the
sentiment and you’re all set.

Banner of Love
I just love banners.
I'm so glad that someone decided to
bring them into the forefront of crafting! I have made
banners for myself and to sell...can't get enough of 'em!
When I received my box of goodies for designing with
PRO 31 DESIGNS
I quickly jotted down the idea for a sweet banner
for Sydnee's room!
After painting the Maya Road scalloped banners in a
bright candy pink, I distressed the chipboard with a bit of
walnut ink. The triangle portion of the banner was covered in
patterned papers by My Mind's Eye and then embellished with all sorts
of yummy goodies!
I love these scalloped dies by Lifestyle Crafts...they work with
all sorts of die-cutting machines...and who doesn't love doilies?!?
One of my very favorite aspects of crafting is digging waaay back in your
stash and coming up with some gems that you'd forgotten about...like the glitter
alphas by K & CO :)
Fun little 3-D Stickers by K&CO and puffy
dimensional stickers by Martha Stewart, matched the papers perfectly.
Each panel was outlined in a shabby silver tinsel trim!
You must get some of these! I'm in love with these 3-D Acrylic Flowers
from PRO 31...they have tons of colors and an
assortment of shapes on hand.
And while you're at it, you must have some of the
beautiful Wheat Sprays...and what's not to love about
a dear white dove? They offer small and large sizes. Did you know
that you can alter the color by adding alcohol inks? That's a pretty cool fact :)
For hanging, I used the ring that came with the chipboard album
and decorated them with satin and grosgrain ribbons from PRO 31 DESIGNS
Open a standard paper clip and hook one end through the ring and attach
the other end to whatever you'd like to hang it from.To attach all of the banners together, I used a length ofblue Rose and Sequin Trim and Fabri-Tac.
Let me know if you have any questions about this project.

I topped them with mini pom poms. For the handles, I used a very small gauge pipe cleaner.
HOORAY BIRTHDAY BANNER
I know, I know. This is the only place that I could find to photograph the banner in its
entirety and with good lighting! But I have several up-close pictures
to share so that you can visualize HELLO CUPCAKE's abilities
I used an inexpensive pre-made banner from Hobby Lobby, which included
12 panels sewn together. I cut the banner in half; decorating the first six
and then gluing the plain banners to the backs after finishing. This made the
banner extra sturdy and hid all of my sewing :)
I tinkered around with some scratch paper to create the inset for the banner,
In finishing, I covered the white sating binding holding the banners together
with an orange grosgrain ribbon!
Now isn't this just a bunch of yumminess?
Hello Cupcake is the perfect collection for any of your party planning and layouts!

Graduation and Cupcakes
It's Thursday all ready...wow!
Today is the last day of high school for my oldest son, Tyler.
Bittersweet.
We were excited to find out that he received a Leadership Scholarship
to the university that he'll be attending this Fall. What an answer to prayer!
And I didn't mention before, but he also received the
Bear Varsity Football Leadership Award
and
Varsity Baseball Defensive Player of the Year
at the Athletic Banquet last week.
Eh-hum, in our family we don't call it being a leader, we call it being BOSSY haha!
But we're so proud of him nonetheless :)
(and excuse the shirt...he was in a hurry and didn't have time to properly press it. I almost crawled
under the table when he walked in lookin' like that...ugh)
Now, onto really important stuff like...

PARTY TREAT BAGS
By taking a simple 6x6 sheet of patterned paper, I made these cute and functional goodie bags!
Hint: Score your top at 1" and fold over to showcase the other pattern; trim with handmade crepe fringe or other trim. Bags measure 2.75"W x 5" H. And not many projects get by me these days without using the i-top punches to create whimsical embellishments.
I printed out several Thank You's on white cardstock and trimmed to create the
little banner. I use a star punch to create the dovetail on the ends!
The fringe? Why, it came from my Dot & Whimsy Etsy Shop of course :)
When scoring your papers, score at 1 1/2" and 4 3/8"; this will make your bag
approximately 2 3/4" across.
To finish off, I embellished with party hats that I hand-cut from one of the patterned papers.
I topped them with mini pom poms. For the handles, I used a very small gauge pipe cleaner.
