A Hoot of an Adventure!

Happy June, y'all!
With Summer and camping weather around the corner,
I couldn't wait to break out the new
"Adventure Collection" by Authentique Paper
and make something to hang in our camper!

I had this adorable owl cutting file on hand from Miss Kate Cuttables and I knew that I
wanted to use it in some form or fashion. I cut him from some Core'dinations cardstock
and a polka dot paper (Seasons: Autumn Collection).

The cutting file also comes with a tree branch, which I cut from the woodgrain paper.
The leaves were cut from two colors of green found in the Adventure 6X6 Paper Pad.
I also die-cut a couple of oval shapes from two of the paper pad papers and then
added one of the sentiments with foam.

I cut the base of the hanger using a scrolled album die by Top Dog Dies.
I added some machine and hand-stitching to give a more homespun feel. Two holes
were punched at the top and some faux burlap ribbon by May Arts was tied for the hanger.

For my project,  I chose the "Bear Necessities" Stamp Set by SMS
Our school mascot is the bear and my daughter will be a middle school cheerleader
this next year...I know we will get A LOT of use from these stamps in making
tags, cards and  decorations :)
From Miss Kate's I've used the Birthday Bear cutting file:

I cut the bear from Core'dinations cardstock and patterned papers by
Doodlebug Design's "Hip Hip Hooray" Collection.  The enamel dots that I
used for the eyes and cheeks are also from Doodlebug.

I'm the last stop for today's hop...I hope that you've enjoyed
and will visit the rest of the week as both Design Teams continue on with
some very creative ideas :)
Have a PAWS-itively great day!

Happy Birthday, Dear

Out On A Limb + Xyron

Welcome to the final day of the
XYRON and OUT ON A LIMB SCRAPBOOKING
Co Blog Hop!
Both companies are offering some fun prizes, so stop by and leave a comment :)

I have two double-page layouts to share today using Xyron products and
pre-cut kits from Out On A Limb (sister company to Miss Kate Cuttables!)
My intention with both kits was to use all of the components with just a touch
of added embellishments...I think it shows just how far each kit will go.

For this layout, I used a border punch on the bottom of the green cardstock vs.
cutting the paper into a wave.  Each kit comes with placement instructions, but I like
to move things around...either way, you will come out with a fun and original layout!

For all of the photos and mats,  used the 1/4" Xyron High Tack Adhesive Tape.

I had the perfect camping pictures for this next kit, so I was quite excited!

For the title, I used the Xyron Creative Station since the pieces were larger.
For the other pieces, I initiated the Xyron 1.5" and 3" Sticker Makers...they're
the ideal adhesive for the intricate die cuts from Miss Kate's or OOAL!

That's all from me!  You can see lots more inspiration by visiting the two
sponsoring blogs beginning May 12th through today.
Enjoy!

Ahoy! Pop Up Card

Hap-Happy Friday, friends!
I'm sharing today with
as well as
I've created today's project with a focus on all three companies,
whom I all love and adore!  It was quite fun pairing up the Anchored Collection
with these adorable cutting files from Miss Kate's...but I think it totally works!

There are a few different recipes online for making these; I've created my own to
represent the size I was looking for.
To begin, cut desired double-sided patterned paper to 7"X12".
With the paper laying length wise, score the paper at 2.75", 5.5", 8.25" and 11".
Turn the paper; score at 4".
Next you will cut the paper to create the three flaps:
cut the vertical score lines at 2.75", 5.5" and 8.25" just until the score line meets the horizontal score line.  Fold and glue the final 1" flap down to create the box.

So that you're able to add layers of die-cuts, stickers, etc., cut two (or three)
1/2" X 3.25" strips.
From each end, make a 1/2" fold.  Glue the folds to the inside
edges of the box.  Now you can attach your favorite decorations to the inside.

For my card, I used cutting files from Miss Kate Cuttables!
On the front we have an adorable crab which I embellished with a Petaloo flower.

I wanted to further accentuate the whale's tail, so I added two splashes by attaching them
to a thin strip of clear overlay and then adhering to the back of the whale.

The edges of the flaps were edged with some of the Petaloo Taupe ric rac trim.
To the back, I added one of the Petaloo Sea Shell Pins to the top of the sailboat.
The box can now be folded flat and inserted into an envelope for mailing!
I think these look cute for simply displaying or using as a centerpiece for a birthday party
or baby shower...lots of ideas!

Here is a list of products that I used; see the above for links to the cutting files.

Particle Paper; Details 12X12 Sticker Sheet
Petaloo Products- Sea Shell Pins; Taupe Trims; Darjeeling Mini Mix Teastain

Happy Spring Centerpiece

Easter is now over, but we can still have fun with a super-sweet Spring Centerpiece
featuring the Twirly Girl Collection by
 CHICKANIDDY CRAFTS
and a few floral punches and cute chick cutting file!

I first started out with a plain wooden planter box and a sheet of the Party Dress "Side B" paper.

After tracing the sides onto the paper and cutting the four pieces out, I placed them through
the Xyron 9" Creative Station and applied a permanent adhesive.

I added a piece of floral foam to the inside of the box and then covered it with green excelsior.

You can find the adorable Spring Chick cutting file at Miss Kate Cuttables.
Using my personal cutting machine, I cut the main piece of the chick's body from the
yellow/white stripe diagonal portion of the Piggy Tales paper and then used a yellow
 contrasting cardstock as the shadow.

I didn't use the part of the file containing the legs; instead I adhered two halves of
bamboo skewers to the back and then inked the pieces
with a Peanut Brittle ink by Imagine Crafts.

I cut two small brown circles from cardstock and adhered them behind the eye area.
A small diamond shape was added for the beak.  I used pink chalk for the cheeks and
also inked the edges of the chick with a Sunflower Yellow ink from Imagine Crafts.
After embellishing the little chick with a layered flower, I inserted the two bamboo
skewers (legs) into the floral foam.

In finishing, I incorporated several styles of flowers that I punched from the Piggy Tales
and Party Dress Papers.  I either added hand-sewn buttons or enamel hearts to the centers.
Each flower was attached around the top edge of the wooden box with a high tack adhesive dot.

I softened the bottom edge of the box by adding some pretty crotchet trim from
May Arts Ribbon. Here is one last look at the completed Happy Spring Centerpiece:

I love this little guy.  I had planned on using him for this hop, so I went with

When I opened the cutting file, I left the size as-is so that the face stamp
would fit perfectly.  For more dimension, I did use some enamel dots for the eyes.
I look forward to trying out more of the faces in upcoming projects!
I love the expressions and how they bring a totally different look to the paper dolls/animals :)

    Xyron + Miss Kate Cuttables

Welcome to Day #3 of the
XYRON and MISS KATE CUTTABLES BLOG CO-HOP
**You should be arriving here from the Xyron Blog**
Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win a Xyron 3" Sticker Maker :)

I loved the variety of Cuttables so much, that I have two projects to share today!
First up is just the sweetest mushroom that I've ever seen:
I love all-things woodland, so I chose to emboss the background paper with
a woodgrain folder before attaching it to the cardfront.
Next, I set about to cut-out the pieces from the mushroom set; for this I
used different cardstocks by American Crafts.

I used the Xyron 3" Sticker Maker to assemble all of the pieces together.
For a little extra dimension and texture, I added some Doodlebug Design
Sprinkles for the cheeks.  The sweet patterned papers, twine and
alpha stickers are also by Doodlebug.

The second card features one of the cutting files that I requested to work with :)
I'm so ready for Spring and Easter that I couldn't resist a bunny!
It maybe a little hard to tell in the photo, but I actually glittered over the adhesive
in the opening of the egg.  To do so: instead of running the top of the egg through the
Xyron 3" Sticker Maker, I did so to the bottom of the egg, which left a portion of the
    adhesive exposed.

When working with the bunny's head, I ran the top layer through the Xyron Sticker Maker.

As the instructions state:  Rub and Peel!

Whenever I machine stitch close to the edge of a paper, I like to use a High Tack Tape
around the sides before adhering to the cardfront.
It gets into the grooves between the stitching and holds everything perfectly in place!

    That's all from me today!
