Birthday Girl Gift Album

Make this special mini album as a gift for the birthday girl’s mom
she would love a place to document that first birthday with photos and journaling
of the day's events.
The album features the new "Birthday Girl" Collection by
ECHO PARK PAPER

Begin by making the base pages.  Start with the Set of Frames from the
Silhouette Design Store. The largest scallop frame and the ric-rac style frame were
used and cut from Carta Bella’s Linen cardstock.  The pages graduated in size from
4.5”X4.5” for the cover and 6.5”X6.5” for the back page.  Two of the same shape were
cut and then adhered together to form a sturdier page.

A scalloped mat was cut for the front cover using the Scallop Nesting Dies and then
layered with stickers from the Birthday Girl Alpha and Element Sticker Sheets.

This particular album is a flip-up style album, so keep that in mind when planning
out the embellishments and paper’s pattern direction.  Off-set embellishments
(especially if foam adhesive has been used) so that the pages will rest neatly
 against one another.

Mix in enamel dots and decorative brads from other collections to dress up the pages.

Because of the smaller design scale, the 6X6 Paper Pad pages are just
perfect for mini albums!

Sugar Shoppe, Birthday Girl!

Hello, friends!  Are you ready for a party?!?
Whether you're an 'older' girl or a young 'un, there's
nothing more fun than the new
SUGAR SHOPPE COLLECTION
by Doodlebug Design

As you can see, I have gathered together some fun party goods
that would surely bring delight to a little (or big) birthday girl!

First up, we have the birthday girl's crown!
I found this cute tiara template online at Picklebums.com
The template shows using the tiara as a front piece only, but for mine
I chose to combine two of them together so that it fits more like a crown.
The front was embellished with some handmade crepe paper ruffle,
some of the Sugar Shoppe stickers and of course, some jewels!

Above, you can see that I also covered the inside but only after
I adhered a pom pom trim around the top edge.

After punching two small holes (at each side), I inserted medium-sized brads
to hold together.  You will want to make adjustments according to the size crown that's needed.

And every party needs party favors!  With a few paper punches, die-cut shapes and sequins
you can send your guests home with a very original treat.

Ice cream soda?  Fill a glass jar with colorful straws and then embellish the outside
with bands of fun washi tapes!  I love that the tape can be removed and then the jar
can be used again for a different theme.

Finally, here's a look at my Sugar Shoppe party scene...now all I need are the guests!

Cards With Bella Blvd

Happy Saturday!
I'm bringing my Bella Blvd "Cards on Thursdays" just a couple of days late to the blog.
It seems like I'll have a dry-run for a few days and then have four different projects up
on the same day LOL...so I'm trying to spread them all out :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES
It seems like squares are all the rage these days and I just had to play along!
Using a 1.25" square die cut, I created a quilt of colors from the Birthday Girl Collection.
After mounting them onto a piece of cardstock, I machine stitched down the center of each row.
I kept the top simple by adding on a couple of chipboard stickers and a "wishes"
banner under the die-cut shape.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY
A small piece of feather gathered and tied made the cutest plume effect to the top of the
chipboard firecracker! I attached the feather to the chipboard using a Ultra-Thin Glue Dot.
I built a 4th of July collage using several components from the Alpha+Bits and
Just Write Journaling Stickers. So happy and festive, and I love the idea of displaying it on our
Patriotic buffet table. Bring on Summer!
