Hostess with the Mostess

The holiday brings lots of parties and open houses, so

if you're planning to attend one and need a fun and functional gift, here is an idea!

I've taken a dollar store gift box (size 5"X5") and a few other supplies from Xyron & WRMK:

To the left is a look at the cardboard gift box. I've also used a mason jar steel rule die that measures

5"W X 7"H and cut two pieces of chipboard with it.

Next, I cut out matching jar shapes from the Yuletide Collection from We R Memory Keepers.

Adhesive was applied using the Xyron Creative Station with permanent adhesive.

Both sides of the chipboard was then dressed with the patterned paper pieces.

I also wanted to cover the sides of the box, so I cut another pattern of paper to size and

then used the Xyron Creative Station Lite to add adhesive to those pieces.

For the top of the mason jar, I cut out a "lid" and used the 1.5" Sticker Maker to apply

adhesive to the back.

The mason jar pieces were adhered to the front and back of the box and then decorated

with other accents from the collection.

Now it's ready to be filled with goodies of any kind and the hostess will love it!

There are also other large shapes available such as houses, trees, stars, etc. that you

could use in place of the jar.

Door Hanger Mason Jar We R Memory Keepers xyron

Dorm Room Decor

It's back to school time for teachers and students of all kinds!

My middle son's girlfriend wanted something to hang on her dorm

room door at college, so I created this whimsical mason jar-style hanger.

For the base, I started with a turquoise dot-embossed poster board from We R Memory Keepers...

but you could also use regular poster board and paint if you can't find blue! For a padded

hanger like this, you will also want a matching piece of poster board for the back.

I free-handed the design and cut the shape (basically, cornering the edges and cutting away a

portion at the top for the lid) from both poster board. Next, I machine-stitched the two

pieces together around the edge with a sewing machine. I lightly stuffed the jar with

fiber fill and then glued the top together.

I created the lid from a silver mat paper, also from We R Memory Keepers. I ran

the piece through the Xyron Creative Station (with 9" permanent adhesive) and attached it.
Lines were drawn on with a permanent marker to create the ridges in the lid.

I used my Eclips to cut out the large lettering and a few sunflowers that I found at

Miss Kate Cuttables. The font that I've used is Brannboll Felt, which closely resembles

the "Ball" jar font.

Again, I used the Xyron Creative Station to adhere all of my cut-out pieces together quickly...

and I know they'll stay STUCK :)

If you notice that some of the adhesives sticks to the edges of the paper when you pull off

the top film, just rub your finger gently over the adhesive and it will roll away.

In finishing, I took a white marker and added a bevel to the bottom of the jar :)

Some thick gauged wire was used for the hanger...and don't forget a name tag and pretty ribbon!

Envelope Album mini album Mother's Day We R Memory Keepers

Happy be-lated Mother's Day to all of my crafty friends!

I had the pleasure of crafting a very special mini album all about "mom" for

WE R MEMORY KEEPERS

For the pages of the album I decided to use a couple of sizes of the envelope shape,
so I grabbed the 1-2-3 Punch Board and a few of the patterned papers from the

"Flower Girl" Collection.

For the front and back covers, I selected the 7X7 card size and proceeded to cut, score

and assemble per the instructions on the punch board. Note: I left the TOP flap

unscored on all of the pages.

For the four inner pages, I selected the 6X6 card size.

Next, I used the Cinch Book Binding Tool and activated the 3, 6 and 9 levers (this will
allow punches at these areas only). All of the inner pages were punched at this setting.

Standard eyelets were placed in all of the punched holes and set with the Crop-A-Dile.

Moving on to the front/back covers, I went back and activated the levers 1-12 and

punched the sides of the two envelopes. The Gold 0.75” Cinch Wire was used to

bind the front and back pages together. I will show later on how I added the inner

pages to the Cinch binding!

Three one inch rings from my stash were used to clip the inner pages onto the coil
binding of the front and back pages. When the album is lying flat, it flips easily for viewing!

To the pockets of the inner pages, I cut patterned paper to 5.5”W X 8.5”H for the
two larger pockets and 4.5”W X 7.75”H for the four smaller pockets. These are
nice places to add journaling, extra photos or clip on different ephemera and keepsakes. The pockets are also roomy enough to add extra tags or clippings to.

From the “Flower Girl” Card & Frame Kit, I selected various acetate frames and
attached them to the tops of the inner pocket inserts. Again, I used the green eyelets
and Crop-A-Dile for attaching. Different veneer pieces, puffy stickers and die-cuts
were added for decoration.

Patterned papers were also cut to mat size and placed on the backs of the envelope

pages. These pages can accommodate a large 4X6 photo or a few smaller photos.

I used some different American Crafts Thickers from my stash to add extra-large words, as well as texture to the front page and the little banner flags above.

You may also think of using this style/shape mini album to design a house or home theme! With all of the pockets, it’s great for storing receipts, bills-to-pay, etc. By using the Cinch system, you can create well-made and professional looking mini albums and organizers. Mom would love to receive any type of these handmade gifts!

2016 Planner Carpe Diem Crop-A-Dile Planner Simple Stories We R Memory Keepers

Carpe Diem...It's 2016!

Hello and Happy New Year's Wishes to you!

As a gift to myself, I prepped my Carpe Diem Planner by

SIMPLE STORIES

so that I can greet the New Year prepared!

I will be honest and say that I was torn between choosing the Aqua Planner and the Coral Planner. As you can see, I chose Coral, but after a little thought, I was able to add a pop of the aqua color too!

I added a trio of large, aqua eyelets to the leather closure strap of the planner. To do so, I used a crop-a-dile punch, but a leather punch can be used as well.

I also wanted to change the length of one of the ball chains for the charm, so a pair of

wire snips were used to cut a piece from the strand. The heart charm was embellished

with a few light-colored coral enamel dots.

To keep all of my extra goodies and planner pages in one spot, I chose to use the

handy clear box for the Daily Planner Insert pages. It has a handle on the top so I was

able to clip on the packages of Stickers and Clips by attaching them with a ring.

I had an extra charm leftover, so I added it to the inside pocket area of the binder!

I kept the inside pretty simple and basic. I organized the front section with stickered tabs

from the Basic Divider Pack.

I dressed up one of the Pocket Pages with Bits & Pieces so that it can hold bills

and coupon booklets.

For the monthly divider pages, I added some of my own hand-drawn sentiments to the

all ready adorable designs provided. Here is a look at some of the other decorated dividers:

Before each month's divider page, I added a Dashboard Insert just to give it more interest! They were embellished with enamel dots, washi tapes, stickers and die-cuts for even more fun.
