Merry Christmas Eve!
I have all of my dishes prepped for brunch in the morning
and all of the gifts are wrapped...now just kicking back next to
a warm fire watching sappy Christmas movies :)
I hope that wherever you are this Christmas, that you
find peace, joy and love!
And safe travels for those of you visiting family and friends afar.
Yesterday I shared a quick "Jar of Goodies" treat box at
SIMPLE STORIES
If you have a large-shaped die or cutting system, then this is super easy to put together!
I've used a jar die, but certainly any shape would work, as long as it's large enough :)
To begin, I created a 4X4X4 box from one of the December Documented papers.
You can find templates online or cover a premade box with the patterned paper of your choice.
Next, I cut the jar shape from two different patterned papers twice. I then cut two of the jar shapes
from a mat-board (you could also use chipboard or pieces from a heavy box).

Attach the papers to the mat board and machine-stitch around the perimeter if you'd like.
Next, adhere the papered jars to the front and back of the box with a strong adhesive
(I used a quick drying glue).
Fill the inside of your box with pretty shredded paper or tissue. This is also the perfect
sized box if you would like to add a coffee mug filled with goodies.
On the front I attached one of the medium-sized pockets from the SN@P! Pockets and tucked a hand-written recipe inside...also a great spot for a gift card or note.
I glittered the chipboard tree and added some white pom poms.
A pretty bow and we're all set for gift-giving!
My daughter and I made "Reindeer Munch" this year as part of our handmade gifts:
- 2 bags of Bugles
- 1 (10 oz) pkg pretzels
- 2 cups mixed nuts
- 2 (12 oz) pkg plain M&Ms (we use red and green)
- 2 (12 oz) pkg white chocolate chips
- 3 TBSP vegetable oil
In a very large bowl or two medium bowls, combine all of the dry ingredients
(except white chocolate chips). Melt white chocolate chips with vegetable oil in a microwave-safe
bowl for 2 minutes on medium power. Stir and continue the cooking time until the chips are melted.
Pour over the dry mix and stir well. Allow to cool and then store in an air-tight container.

12 Days of December Documented
This past week at SIMPLE STORIES, we shared
all sorts of projects with Daily Grind, SN@P! and Spellbinders!
so I went with a tag-style mini album focusing on the "12 Days of Christmas"
For the base of the album, I started with Spellbinder's Wonky Rectangles Nestabilities
and used the largest (3.25" X 4.25") die. I first cut the shape from a thin weight chipboard
and then various papers from the 6X6 December Documented
Although using smaller dies from the same set would also look just as sweet, I decided to
go with an oval shape (2.25" X 3") from the Spellbinder's Classic Ovals Nestabilities.
And I just fell in love with Spellbinder's Layered Poinsettias ...I use a lot of snowflakes for winter/Christmas themes, so this was a nice change! For the front, I used two of the smaller
poinsettia shapes and then glittered the yellow centers.

Before attaching the little penguin guy to the top of the cover, I applied him to a piece of paper
and then trimmed out; this added stability and also took away the sticky. To the bottom,
I glued on a pom pom trim from May Arts Ribbon.
Above and below are all of the pages to commemorate the 12 Days of Christmas.
When adding photos, I plan to use one of the smaller ovals to die-cut my photos.
Between each 'day' I have added a cut-down piece of overlay from the
December Documented Collection Kit, as well as SN@P! Pockets and
December Documented 3x4 SNA@P! Cards.
This concept would also make a cute brag book for a new mom or grandma.
Add more SN@P! pockets and fill with movie tickets or gift cards...a gift within a gift!

A Winter Wonderland

For my most recent assignment at
SIMPLE STORIES
I wanted to try something a little different in the home decor arena.
Using the new December Documented Collection and an 8X8 matchbook box,
I set out to make this sweet 3-D shadowbox of a winter wonderland scene
I used an acrylic paint to cover the entire matchbook box a pretty bright green.
I cut a panel from one of the December Documented papers and placed it over the opening.
Next, I worked on the 3-D scene on the inside of the box. I layered a variety of papers and cut white cardstock into snowy hills that I glittered and outlined in pom-pom trim.
The chipboard snowflakes were glittered with an iridescent glitter and then applied.
To the bottom of the box, I added a cut-out title strip and then dovetailed it at each end before attaching.
I wanted to add a little height to the top, so a wooden scroll frame was adhered to the back of the box.
Such a project could be hung (just add a ribbon hanger), added to a wreath or simply sit on a side
table. Change up the sentiment and the piece can be displayed throughout the winter months!
