Gifting Milk Container & Caddy|Simple Stories

Oh the joys of gifting!  Today I'm sharing a project at
that I fell in LOVE with making:
"Milk Containers & Caddy" featuring the I Am Collection!
For PDF Instructions -CLICK HERE-

I love crafting gift sets and happy mail and spotted this pretty-popular project while perusing Instagram recently.  When I set out to grab ideas, I look at the main photo and then go to my own drawing board to recreate in my own way :)  So, let's get started with how I constructed the "milk containers":

First I used a very heavy cardstock paper that measured 5.75" X 8.5".  I scored lengthwise at 2", 4", 6" and 8", which leaves a 1/2" tab.  Next, I turned and scored at 1/2" and 4".  Placing the paper in front of me, I have the 1/2" tab to the right (as shown above).  I used a 1/4" corner rounding punch to punch all of the corners on the top flaps. Apply adhesive tape to the side tab and fold the box along the score marks; adhere tab to the inside of the opposite side. To the bottom flaps I made small angle cuts so that it would fold up easier.  You will notice that the second from the end flap is missing; I glued the flap to the inside for a cleaner look when assembled.

Next, cut a small piece of white cardstock to 2"X2.5"; score at 2" and then corner round the edges of the 1/2" tab.  Attach to the last bottom flap; this will be your closure (refer to the photo above).

To join the top tabs together and form the "milk carton" look, I simply folded the two side tabs in and then joined the front and back tabs with a small piece of adhesive tape.

Onto the decorating!  I used various patterns from the "I Am Collection" and cut them into slightly smaller-than-the-carton- strips.  The tops were adorned with mini clothes pins that were dressed in bits of paper.  I layered on cute die-cuts, chipboard stickers, enamel dots and stickers to each of the containers.

For the caddy: I created the box using a 7.25" X 7.25" sheet of patterned paper.  I scored around all four edges at 1.5" and then cut along one score mark at each side before folding and adhering the sides together.  I also placed a small square of lightweight chipboard inside before adding the containers.

For the handle I cut two strips of 1.5"X12" pieces of paper and folded into thirds.  Next, I machine stitched each of the strips and then joined them together at one end with adhesive tape.  Before adhering to the inside of the box, I determined the height of the handle and then trimmed away the excess.  To hide where the two strips were joined, I wrapped a piece of the discarded strip around it and secured with tape.

Finally, I tied on a couple of bows and glued them to the sides.  I attached one of the decorative brads to the center of each bow using fabric glue! Whether you need a couple or a trio of these containers, just make your little caddy accordingly.  Tuck small gifts or treats inside and it's ready for gift-giving!

SUPPLIES

Back to School Treat Bags

Whether you're a teacher, student or parent, I have a sweet welcome-back-to-school treat using just a few basic supplies from Doodlebug Design!

For this project, any type of premade sack, bag or box can be used.  I've chosen a 2.5" die and cardstock to create this cute mini shopping style bag.  SVG files are also a good place to hunt for cute bags!

After cutting the bags and assembling, I moved to stamping and coloring the images
with alcohol markers. These type of projects are perfect for mixing up your collection of Doodlebug stamps and dies!

The stamped images were embellished with sprinkles and twine.

Inside of the little shopping bags I added clear bags of candy.  What better way to tie off the clear bags than with a twist of washi tape!  To create the "washi twist ties" I used a thin gauge wire (I actually pulled a strand from a piece of wire-edged ribbon) , placed it in the center of the washi tape and then wrapped around.  I also trimmed the washi twist tie to about an 1/4" width.

Again, have fun mixing and matching papers from different collections, as well as stamps to create unique little gifts!

Bon Voyage!

Do you have that someone in your life who loves
to hop on a cruise ship and sail away? My parents are constantly
going on a cruise, so I made these with them in mind.
Today at Authentique Paper I have
a neat way to send them off in style with the
Anchored Collection!

Take an ordinary windowed bakery bag, decorate and then fill with fun treats
that they can use and enjoy: sunscreen, Dramamine, snacks, journal, a new
iPod etc....choose a larger bag if needed!

First, you'll need a bakery bag, or two, or three...you can find them here

Next, using either round dies, punches or a template, match up the size of
the window opening with the smallest die possible.
Select a die that is roughly 1/2" larger  than the inner die.

Layer the two dies together onto a selected piece of Anchored Paper and cut!

Turn the shape into a life preserver by decorating with just a few snips of paper
that have been glued to the sides as shown above.  Adhere over the window
with foam adhesive for an even more dramatic look.

If you decide to also decorate the front with paper, first determine the width and height
and then measure in from the sides to find the exact placement for the
smallest die and then cut.  Add any embellishments, such as brads or
hand-sewn buttons before adhering to the bag.
That's all there is to it!  This would also make a handsome treat bag for a
nautical themed baby shower or birthday party!

Luxurious Treat Bag Duo

It's a Halloween Week of sorts at
PINK PAISLEE

We were asked to use the Luxe Bronze and Black papers and accents in creating our projects.
I've used a blend of the colors to make these two totally different treat bags!

To get started, you will need a 6″ X 12″ strip of your favorite Luxe paper.
Place the piece face-down onto a score board (or use a paper trimmer); turning the
piece vertically (lengthwise), score at 1″ and 5″. Turn the paper horizontally and score at 5.5″ and 6.5″. Fold the paper in on all of the scored marks. Cut the paper at the 5.5″ and 6.5″ marks just up to
the vertical score lines; you will have two small flaps on each side. Fold in and glue to one of
the longer flaps. Use a quick dry glue or strong double-sided adhesive to secure the flaps together.

For the sweet and prim Luxe jack ‘o lantern, I used a 4.25″ scalloped doily die and a 4″ round die.
I layered the two pieces together with foam adhesive and secured to the front of the striped bag.
His nose is simply a bronze chipboard heart that I cut into a triangle. His little grin is one of the
black Luxe brackets from the alphabet stickers.

The tag on the handle was made by die-cutting a 2″ circle from the Luxe black star paper
and then adding bronze sticker letters.

Mr. Batty can be dressed up in so many ways! For the wings, I cut a design from the black
chevron paper that measures approximately 3.5″. Next, I scored the wings at each of the points
of the chevron pattern. The outer parts were scored up and the two inner sections were scored
down to create a fan-folded effect. Add the wings to a paper doily with foam adhesive.

For the body, I used a 1.5″ oval punch and a 1″ circle punch and layered them as shown.
For the eyes, I applied two small black Luxe rubons to adhesive pearls. His nose is one of the
punctuation symbols from the bronze letter stickers. I wanted to give him a little extra whimsy,
so I attached a small chipboard heart to the top for his ears.

To each bag, I glued in a white chenille stem for the handle. You can also punch small holes at each
side and string through wire, ribbon, etc. Tie on coordinating ribbon and your unique and
one-of-a-kind treat bags are ready to go! You’ll surely be the most remembered stop in the neighborhood!

Window Dressing

Happy Wednesday!
I'm posting my very last project created for
CURTSEY BOUTIQUE
I had a lot fun thinking up different ways to dress up the round windows in
these bakery bags.  Curtsey Boutique offers an assortment of boxes, baskets & bags!

For the most part I used my nesting circles dies.
Mainly you will need a 2" punch or die, which is the same size as the window for these particular bags.

 "Baby Face" Bag
From a flesh-colored cardstock, cut a 5" circle.  Center the 2" circle die towards
the bottom of the cardstock and cut

I wanted the window opening to mimic a pacifier so I made the handle from
two different circles of cardstock.

"Life Preserver" Bag
A cute idea for a party or for sending someone off on a cruise!

After cutting a 3" circle from red cardstock and then cutting out the 2" center,
I added small strips and then trimmed them off.
I wrapped navy and white baker's twine around each strip
and then tied on a small bow.  A fine-tip glue pen is perfect for adhering twine to paper!

"Pink Bloom" Bag
Perfect for any theme...from a bridal shower to a Bunco party!
Just use the same 2" circle for the center and any large scalloped punch or die for the flower.
I also attach a glittered butterfly, which you can find at Curtsey Boutique.
