Back to School Treat Bags

Whether you're a teacher, student or parent, I have a sweet welcome-back-to-school treat using just a few basic supplies from Doodlebug Design!

For this project, any type of premade sack, bag or box can be used.  I've chosen a 2.5" die and cardstock to create this cute mini shopping style bag.  SVG files are also a good place to hunt for cute bags!

After cutting the bags and assembling, I moved to stamping and coloring the images
with alcohol markers. These type of projects are perfect for mixing up your collection of Doodlebug stamps and dies!

The stamped images were embellished with sprinkles and twine.

Inside of the little shopping bags I added clear bags of candy.  What better way to tie off the clear bags than with a twist of washi tape!  To create the "washi twist ties" I used a thin gauge wire (I actually pulled a strand from a piece of wire-edged ribbon) , placed it in the center of the washi tape and then wrapped around.  I also trimmed the washi twist tie to about an 1/4" width.

Again, have fun mixing and matching papers from different collections, as well as stamps to create unique little gifts!

I Love Travel Tote

Travel in style with this adorable paper tote filled with fun goodies featuring the brand new "I Love Travel" Collection! Inside you'll find old-fashioned board games, cute luggage tags and a mini journal for jotting down memories.

To begin I crafted this simple luggage-style tote from Doodlebug Bon-Bon cardstock.  Here are the measurements for creating the 7" X 4.5" X 1.75" tote:
Cut cardstock to 12"X7".  Score the 12" length at 4.5", 6" and 7.5".  Fold along score lines and then corner round all four corners.  Next make two tabs from the same brown cardstock that measure 2.5"X3.75".  Score the strips at 1" and 2.75".  Attach to the front and back of the piece to create the sides of the tote:

For the front and back I cut two strips of Ladybug cardstock to 3/4" X 4.5"  and adhered them as shown:
The handles were made from a loop of the same 3/4" X 12" Ladybug cardstock. I used large brads to attach the handles.

Next I crafted a couple of "board" games that were laminated so that they could be written on with a dry-erase maker and then easily erased.

Using the sheet of  4X6 journal cards I made this quick and easy booklet:

To create the booklet I scored each journal card approximately 1/4" from the left edge. After prepping a cover from a 8.5"X 6.25" sheet of patterned paper, the cards were attached  along the scored tab.

Finally I used these adorable 3X4 cards and turned them into luggage tags.  The fronts were embellished with enamel shapes and sweet bows.

You can find more ideas for board games and even printables that can be printed onto patterned paper! So whether one is traveling by train, plane or automobile, this cute tote makes a great gift and keepsake!

Thank you for joining me today!
