Christmas Diorama Shadowbox

Christmas Greetings and Welcome
to my contribution to the weeklong projects featuring
 Scrapbook Adhesives and Graphic 45

For today's hop, I'm using the precious new collection,
to create this sweet "Diorama Shadowbox"...it even lights up!

Here is a peek at a few of the supplies that I've used:
To begin, I've used a battery-operated LED tea-light that actually
has a timer included.  The timer is perfect for switching on in
the evening and it automatically turns off after 6 hours.

I wanted to add the light inside the top of the box, so I first traced
around the tea-light onto the inner box.

Next I carefully cut the traced circle out using an Xacto knife.
Before attaching the light, I made sure that it fit nice and flush
inside of the hole.

I used a strip of the Extreme 1/4" Double Sided Tape and wrapped
it around the base of the tea light and then placed it inside the opening.

From the Christmas Magic Collection are these fun journal cards.
The package comes with two of each design, so it's perfect for
layering!  I chose a couple of the cards and then trimmed around
smaller details of one card to layer onto the full rendition.

After making a triangular base from a piece of patterned paper,
I used foam squares to layer the cut-out pieces onto the fuller pieces.

After covering the inside with some of the patterned paper, I
attached the journal card of choice and then layered on the
matching cut-outs with foam.  In the fore-front I added the
little triangular accent that was made above.

With the box closed and the light on you can see how beautifully
3D everything looks!  I attached some bottle-brush style trees
with 3D Adhesive Dots, as well as a sentiment to hide the
triangle base.

A bow and large sentiment sticker were attached to the front
along with a jingle bell.

Perfect addition for a little one's room or an end table and
certainly a fun conversation piece :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Yacht Club Shadowbox

Ahoy, friends!  I'm up on the
CARTA BELLA PAPER BLOG
with a nautical shadowbox that I’ve decorated with pieces from

I started with a 10X10 shadowbox frame with an 8X8 inset.
I removed the back of the frame and used it to begin building my design on!

I chose the“Nantucket” paper for the main background and then began adding
clusters of embellishments.  I also added a border to the top and bottom
of the paper with the Woodgrain Washi Tape.

To the lower, left corner I used the largest label die from the
Designer Label Set #5 and die-cut the design from side B of the
“Alphabet Letters” paper.  Next, I layered on one
of theEphemera label pieceswith foam adhesives.  To the center of it, the
chipboard sailboat and various stickers and enamel dots were attached.

Now that the inside of the shadowbox has been decorated, it was placed back
inside of the frame.  I outlined the front of the glass with a trim of red/white/blue
twine and some fabric glue.

To finish off the shadowbox, I covered the front of the frame by cutting a piece
of the “Swimsuits” paper(side B) to just slightly less than 10”X10”.
Next, I cut an 8”x8” square from  the very center of the paper and then attached
to the front of the frame. The edges of the  paper were inked with a walnut ink
to carry out the rustic, nautical feel!

Harmony Shadowbox

This past week Authentique Paper shared one of their BRAND NEW products....
the Authentic Art Prints! These 8x10 prints come in 3 of their new collections
- "Favorite," "Radiant," and "Harmony." Art Prints are ready to add to any
scrapbook page or simply put in a frame to add flair to any bare wall
, and perfect for home decor projects!

I shared an easy home decor idea that can be made in almost an instant!
I've used the new Art Prints by Authentique
and an 8X8 Wooden Shadowbox.

The hardest part of this project: deciding which print to use. I went with
this one mainly because the art work could be centered in the frame.

I cut the print down to an 8X8 size and then added sections of the border sticker
to the top and bottom of the design. I capped off the ends with some
 mustard colored adhesive pearls.

With shadowboxes, you can use as much foam adhesive as you'd like!
I layered together some hand-cut butterflies and banner punch-outs
 from the Harmony Collection.

While the Art Prints look beautiful on their own in a standard frame,
I thought it would be fun to show how much you could change the look with the
addition of a few embellishments!  It makes a unique gift for those who tend
to have everything :)  Add your own personal touch and they're sure to love it!

Established 1991

As part of our design team assignments this month at
DOODLEBUG DESIGN
we were asked to create something special with their beautiful
8X8 Shadowbox Frames
They come in white, brown and black...I chose brown with
this particular design in mind for the entryway into our home.

I used a mix of "Flower Box" and "Day to Day" Collections for the most part.

To the woodgrain background paper, I layered on a matching top and bottom border.
Using a circle die, I cut a green hill from one of the 6X6 papers.  The space within
the shadowbox allows you to really build up the embellishments with foam dots and chunky
accents like brads, rhinestones and even ribbon bows.

If you would like to see more ideas on decorating these shadowboxes, just stop
by the Doodlebug Blog all week!  Today we're showcasing the frames along with
the "Home For the Holidays" Collection.
