Flip Flop-ping!

Happy Friday, crafty friends!
Today I'm up over on the
with this super fun and unique "Flip Flop" Mini Album!

To create the album, I've used the new “Beach Day” Collection and the pair of
flip flops that I found at the Silhouette Design Store!

To start off, I sized the flip flops svg file so that each one measured approximately 8.25”H.
Next, I added a small shadow behind them and used that area to cut from the white cardstock,
or base pages of the album.

After cutting out the ‘shadow’ of each flip flop from white Carta Bella cardstock,
I cut the original flip flops from the “Summer Chevron” patterned paper.
The accent pieces were cut from the reverse of the same patterned paper and attached
with foam adhesive.  The patterned paper flips flops were added to the white shadow
pieces and then embellished with ephemera, chipboard and decorative brads.
For the inner pages, the two shadows and flip flops were welded together to form a single cut
around both.   To create the ‘backs’ to each page, the design was flipped to mirror the original design.
This made it easy to match up front and back pages and makes the album even sturdier.

Various embellishments such as enamel dots, chipboard stickers, die-cuts, brads and
stickers were used to decorate each page.  Foam adhesive was used behind some of the
pieces for extra dimension.

To attach all of the pages together, I used two 1” rings and a hole punch.
Only the RIGHT front page of the album was attached to the first set of double-pages.
All of the other pages were attached through the LEFT front page’s ring,
but there are several ways that you could attach them together!

Here is a list and links of the products that I used from the "Beach Day" Collection:

You can also add more interactive pieces by including journal tags, envelopes or clear
 pouches for ephemera!
I hope you all have a greatttt weekend...maybe something "beachy" so you can
have some fun photos to display in your own flip flop album :)

Newton Has Popped Up

Newton is popping up everywhere these days!
I'm sharing this fun, inter-active card over at
NEWTON'S NOOK DESIGNS

So, looking at the front you're thinking "sweet little clean-and-simple card"
Until you open it up and........

...Hellooooo...there's Newton all popped up on the inside!

The interactive die is by Karen Burniston with Elizabeth Craft Designs.
After die-cutting the paper and layering on the label pieces, I stamped
Newton onto white textured cardstock and then colored him in with
Aquarelle watercolor pencils by Faber Castell.

I trimmed Newton and his beach paraphernalia out and added him
to the fold with foam adhesive.  Next, the sentiment was stamped and then
die-cut with the speech bubble found in the die-set.
For the sun, I punched a layer with an I Top Punch from Imaginisce
and a 1" circle punch. I shaded around the edges of both pieces with
one of the Faber Castell Aquarelles.

You can find this version of Newton and many more designs in the

And don't miss the "Inky Paws Challenge" that's happening now!
The challenge winner will receive $10 in store credit...

Newton's Nook: Day 2 of July Reveals

It's day two of the July Release reveals at
Newton's Nook Designs!
Today we are featuring the set called "Beach Party"
This set will be given away to two lucky winners, so stop by the
Newton's Nook Blog to leave a comment!

For my card I stamped the alligator onto a piece of white textured cardstock and
then used Faber-Castell Aquarelles to color in the image.  Aquarelles are watercolor pencils,
so I used a water brush to blend in the colors.

I stamped the beach ball image seven times and then used a small round die to cut
them out...a punch would also work great! To the center of each, I added a lime green
enamel dot...I love the texture that it adds and how it ties in with the 'gator :)

Xyron + Paper House Co-Hop

Welcome to my contribution to day #4 of the
PAPER HOUSE & XYRON BLOG HOP
Visit both of the blogs to see even more inspiration:
Xyron Blog Paper House Blog

For my project, I used a burlap covered mini album, which I thought would
look so cute with the beach/cruise theme of my album!

It's pretty cool that the Tropical Beach 3-D embellishment blends right in with
one of the papers found in the "Endless Summer" Paper Pad.

The inside pages were soooo easy to assemble!  I cut the larger 12X12
sheets of patterned paper down to fit the album pages and then adhered using
the Xryon 9" Creative Station...peel and stick.  I then embellished each page
with different 3-D or canvas stickers from Paper House.

I actually made this album to give as a gift to my Mom this past Mother's Day!
She can fill it with her favorite cruise photos.

When designing the pages of a mini album, I like to stagger the embellishments
so that one page's sticker doesn't lay directly onto the next page's...it keeps
the album from not seeming as bulky.

I really like the life-like images found in the Paper House products.
I went a step further with the page to the left and added some actual
sea shells!  I used Xyron's 3/8" Adhesive Dots to keep them in place.

Here is a list of all of the beach-themed things that I used from Paper House:
- Endless Summer Paper Pad; Beach Comber 3-D Sticker; Cruise Adventure 3-D Sticker;
Beach Chalkboard Sticker; Beach Canvas Art Sticker

That's a wrap for my "Travel the World" Xyron & Paper House project...
hope you've enjoyed the hop!
