Laminated Planner Pocket
Have a friend that loves all things "planner"?
The project that I'm sharing today would make a wonderful
gift for any planner lover or someone just starting out!
This sweet planner pocket is a compilation of wonderful products from
DCWV & XYRON
You can find the "DIY Project Pack: Mini Albums" online
The Stack is filled will all sorts of elements that can be cut out:
pockets, pages, tags, flags, tabs, pinwheels, icons and more!
After trimming out the large pocket, I ran the piece through the
that held the Xyron 9" Lamination Refill Cartridge
As noted in the top photo, the NEW Xyron Creative Station has the
capability of holding both 5" and 9" cartridges!
I trimmed away the laminate by using the edge of the pocket as a guide.
The sides and bottom of the pocket were then scored and folded.
Next, I used the Xyron Mega Runner
to hold the sides together before machine stitching (I did this just to add texture & a whimsical flair).
After cutting out all of the elements, I made several of them into 'stickers' by
running them through the Xyron 3" Sticker Maker
and then trimming away the adhesive sheet.
The front was embellished with a pocket that was stitched on, banners, owl motif
and the hand-assembled pinwheel...fun!
The inside of the pocket was generously filled with all of the components:
The paper stack includes vellum sheets as well!
I created two pockets, labeled and filled them with goodies.
Twine was added to the tops of the different tags so they're ready to use!
By using the Xyron Laminate to cover the pocket, it will provide an even safer
environment for storing the pieces until they're ready to use.
The recipient may decide to punch holes along one side of the pocket and
add it to their planner!
Stop by the Xyron Facebook Page to see even more unique products in
our exchange with DCWV over the next couple of weeks...enjoy :)

Carded & Tagged by Xyron
Today we're getting carded and tagged with these cute, all-in-one
gift card holder tags featuring vintage-style printables and fantastic adhesives from
XYRON, INC.
I've used this set of birthday "vintage kids" printables on a few occasions and
they're still a favorite to create with...especially quick tags that can be layered with
a few small embellishments. Everyone LOVES receiving these on a package!
First, I started with some heavy textured patterned papers from Carta Bella.
For each tag, I cut the paper to measure 6"W X 5"H. The paper was scored
in half vertically so that it would measure 3"W X 5"H when folded.
Next, I traced around a gift card to find placement for the adhesive.
(see above)
along the outside tracing of the gift card. The paper was then folded back in
half and a pocket for the card has been created.
After cutting out each of the printables, I made them into stickers with the
Xyron 3" Sticker Maker
. This is my #1 go-to and favorite way to make just about
anything 3" or less a sticker. Just give the cellophane top a good rub before
peeling off and you have a sticker that will stay put!
Now for the fun of putting all of the tags together:
Each of the tags were dressed with a smaller tag on top, a row of pom poms
along the bottom and all sorts of sweet embellishments from my stash!
To the top, I threaded through a strand of twine for hanging and a
whimsical boutique style bow to complete the cuteness!
Now a gift card (or folded money) can be inserted to the top and added to
a gift bag or card front. Aren't they delightful!?!

Altered Mason Jar
Carta Bella
Valentine's Day
amour du jour
So my middle son had a cute idea for his girlfriend for
Valentine's Day, which got me to thinking about how to fill this
beautifully altered mason jar that I created for
Instead of candy, write down your favorite things about the
recipient on strips of paper and throw in a couple of handmade coupons to boot!
Now onto embellishing the jar:
I started with a clear, standard 7” jar, a 4” paper doily and the "Amour" Collection.
The doily was dressed up with a layering of scallops cut from the 6X6 Paper Pad.
I used the 3.25” and 2.75” dies from the “Scallop Nesting Set” and then inked around
the edges of the papers with a walnut ink. The two scallops were stacked together
with foam adhesive and then adhered to the center of the doily. The doily was
attached to the center of the jar with foam adhesive tape.
The inner part of the lid was traced onto the blue damask 6X6 paper, cut out and
then glued to the top. A piece of white tulle was tied around the jar and then
embellished with a boutique style bow from black dot grosgrain ribbon.
The Eiffel Tower sticker was attached to the center of the top scallop with foam
adhesive. It was further embellished with sequins and pearls at the bottom and
a cluster of velvet flowers and leaves. Three paper tails were added to the bottom.
For the black tails, I die cut the banner shape from the “Blowing Kisses Heart Label Set”and cut it in half. The tails, along with a banner piece from the Ephemera Pack
were attached.
I also made a sweetly embellished glassine bag with the same collection:
The glassine bag measured 4”X8”. I machine-stitched around the perimeter
of the bag to add interest and a bit of depth.
From the “Cherish Forever” 12X12 paper, a banner strip was cut to measure 2.5”X7”.
To create the banner shape, I cut a 2” slit up from the bottom center. From each
bottom point, the paper was cut at an angle until it met with the middle cut…easy!
Next, I attached the banner to the bag with a high-tack adhesive tape.
The banner was embellished with layers of pieces from the Ephemera pack,
as well as one of the journal cards that was fussy-cut; use adhesive foam squares
or tape to give lots of dimension between the shapes! I die-cut the sweet little heart
using the Heart Label Die Set and then inked around the edges with walnut ink.
Buttons were threaded to give a stitched look and then added with glue dots.
Two holes were punched at the top of the bag using a standard hole punch.
A seam-binding style ribbon was tied through and looped into a luscious bow.
Grab all sorts and sizes of bags and set out to create your own unique versions…
your Valentines will be in awe!

Echo Park Paper
mini album
Spring
Spring...Coming Your Way!
Hello, Monday-blog-reading-friends!
I have a quick mini album up at
ECHO PARK PAPER
today using the new colorful and charming "Spring" Collection.
According to Punxsutawney Phil, Spring will arrive early this year…yay!
Daffodils are all ready springing up here in NE Texas and we're expecting
a high of 74 degrees on Thursday...crazy...and it's still officially winter!
I started with a four page, flower shaped chipboard album that I picked up from
Michael’s for a couple of dollars. It measures approximately 6.5” in diameter.
I traced the shape onto various 12X12 patterned papers from the collection,
trimmed out and attached with adhesive using the Xyron Creative Station.
The edges were sanded lightly to give a clean, finished look.
I die-cut a large label shape for the front of the album using the
Designer Labels Die-Set #5 . It was layered with one of the
Ephemera sentiments, die-cut flowers and sticker shapes.
Pages 2 and 3: on all of the pages I used the largest scallop circle to die-cut mats
for the pages. As you can see, I added lines for journaling on the one page…
just make sure to choose a fairly neutral background paper for journaling!
Pages 4 and 5: In keeping with the circular shape of the album and mats,
I die-cut the photos with a circle die as much as possible. Use all different sizes
of circles to create a collage of pictures for each page.
Pages 6 and 7: I added the photos after placing all of the embellishments, but I love the off-center placement of the photo on the last page! And don’t forget to add enamel dots and brads to dress up those cute stickers and make them extra fun!
