Unicorn Loaded Folder

Whether you need a gift for a unicorn lover or a project for a swap, this sweet "Loaded Folder" is completely made from scratch and oh-so-easy!

For the file folder: I cut a double-sided patterned paper  to 8" W X 10"H and then folded in half to measure 8"W X 5"H.  Next I made a center cut to one side of the paper (the front) and folded back to create a "collar".  The edges of the collar were embellished with buttons and border stickers.

Attaching the sides to create the folder: Using a small piece of the same paper, two 1" X 5"  sttips were cut and then folded in half and attached to the sides of the pocket.  By adding these "gussets" the folder is allowed to expand and accommodate a  ton of goodies!

One of the first inserts that I made was this adorable sequin-pocket-shaker!

To make: I've used an 8X8 vertical photo page protector.  I carefully cut away the  edge (with the perforated holes) and the top 2X8" section.

After the sections were cut apart, the remaining 6"X8"  portion was folded in half along the  seal.  The pocket with the opening facing DOWN was filled with chunky glitter and sequins.  I used a sewing machine to stitch the sides and bottom together, leaving the opening to the back unsewn.

For the handle: After cutting a 3/4" X 11" strip of patterned paper, it was attached to just the front part of the pocket with brads.

I embellished the front of the shaker pocket with layers of  punch-out flowers and a hand-stamped, colored and die-cut unicorn!.

The pocket was filled with three hand-crafted tags that I made with 4"X4" white cardstock and  journal cards that were trimmed to 3"X3".  The squares were attached to the white cardstock with thin foam adhesive that was placed along the sides and bottom.  I added stamped, colored and die-cut pieces to embellish each of the cards differently.  Small pieces of folded over ribbon (from my stash) added some soft texture.

Using the leftover 2" X 8" portion of the page protector, I made this bookmark!  I did add a strip of patterned paper to the inside before stitching around the perimeter.  A loop of ribbon and another hand-crafted unicorn were attached to the top.

Finally, these two adorable tags were created using 3.75" X 5.25" white cardstock topped with a 3" X 4.5" die-cut tag.  Again, I used some of the stamped and colored images to embellish the fronts.  I also found a package of unicorn party favors at a dollar store to which I tied a small button and tag around its neck...looks so cute peeking out of the opening!

Now, what unicorn lover wouldn't be thrilled to receive such a treat!  Choose other themes and fill with all sorts of planner supplies and or embellishments for scrapbooking and cardmaking!

Hello Boardbook Mini Album

Happy Saturday!
I shared this so-fun-to-make mini album over at
DOODLEBUG DESIGNS
a couple of weeks ago and wanted to share here too!
I also have it up for SALE in my Etsy Shop :)

Using just a few pieces of leftover patterned paper and sheets of heavy card stock,
this mini album is so quick and easy to put together!  The assemblage is similar to a
child's board book and is also very accommodating  for layered embellishments!

To begin I cut five sheets of 110lb. white card stock to measure:
9.75" X 6.25"
9.5" X 6.25"
9.25" X 6.25"
9" X 6.25"
8.75" X 6.25"
Next, I placed each of the sheets onto a scoring board. Each sheet was scored at 4.25"
and then turned 180" and scored again at 4.25".  After folding all of the sheets along
the score lines, I started building the pages beginning with the longest sheet first.
I added an extreme double-sided tape between all of the sheet's score lines and
 began assembling the pages.

For all of the pages I used a 4" X 6" mat of patterned paper  and adhered to the center of the page.
As shown above, I cut a small strip of 1.25" X 6" paper and attached.

Below is a peek at all of the inner-pages that are photo-ready!

I decided to leave a few of the pages blank so that larger photos could be added.
The top of the album was finished off with a trio of Jelly Clips and now
it's all ready for gift giving!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Cards of PUN Mini Album

We all have that special person that we make a great combo with!
I'm sharing a sweet little mini album using several of the
A2 "Creat-A-Cards" and the "So Much Pun" Collection from
DOODLEBUG DESIGN

I turned the cards horizontally, with the openings to the right.  A strip of patterned paper was cut to  9"X3.5" and scored in half.  The paper was then attached to the front card flap ( and repeated for the following card fronts). For the cover: I did leave an opening along the top so that a tag could be included.

I used a binding system and metal comb to hold the pages together.  After embellishing a metal-rimmed tag from my stash, I slipped it onto the comb.

In prepping all of the "card" pages, I attached mats of various patterns before setting out to add the embellishments.

To stretch the remnants of the 6X6 papers, a few of the pages used pieced papers for the mats; the seams were hidden with border stickers or washi tape!

For most of the 2.5"X2.5" cut-out cards, I made them inter-active by scoring an edge and attaching wtih adhesive tape.  This is a great way to allow larger photos while still using larger design components.

A total of 4  of the "A2 Striped Assortment" Cards were used.  After completion, there are a total of 16 pages!  Use the same design concept to create a story flip-book or brag book for kids!

Thank you for joining me today!
