Hip Hop Hooray Spring Decor

Spring is around the corner and so is Spring decorating!
I recently shared an easy and fun display featuring the adorable
"Hip Hop Hooray" Collection by Simple Stories:

I would LOVE it if you'd HOP over to the Simple Stories Blog and see
how I put this little sweetie together ♥

Doodlebug Assorted Tags

What happens when you take assorted Doodlebug Stamps & Dies
and combine them with plain kraft tags and some coloring?
A delightful collection of tags for any occasion!

To begin, I sorted through the various sets of stamps and chose those that wouldn't be too busy as a background.  Next, I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Ink onto pre-cut kraft tags.
I find that colored pencils (I used Prismacolor w/ a colorless blender) work beautifully on kraft.  For extra whimsy, I also used a white gel pen on a few of the tags!

After completing the tag backgrounds I moved onto stamping images to layer onto the tags.
As you can see, some colored and stamped nicely and some didn't LOL!
My process included selecting some of my favorite images, so not all of them were used
for this project.

For the larger background images, I decided to stamp only two or three times.
And some images, such as the "love you" heart, was simply stamped without anything
else added to it!

If you'll notice the nest that the two birds are sitting on...that's
the crescent moon stamp!  It's so much fun to see how all  of the various
images can be layered together.

For a few of tags I used some of the larger, basic-shaped dies to create little backdrops for the colored images.  Below, an upside-down heart was used!

After adding the die-cut images with foam adhesive, I went back and stamped sentiments
that were attached to the tags.  Again, it was fun to sort through the stamp collections and find just the right greeting for each one!

Lastly, enamel shapes and sprinkles, along with a chunky twine hanger were given to each!

The tags can be added to gift bags, lunch boxes, card fronts or even used as ornaments.
I hope that you'll give them a try!

Love Jar Duo

Who doesn't love cute, tiny jars? I found this duo at Target and fell in love with the sweet heart print on the lids!  Wanting to include the two jars together as a gift set, I even made a carrier box for them!

To get started, I used a large scallop and circle die to create the lid toppers.  I embellished with various die-cuts, doodle pop blue birds and enamel shaped hearts.

The jars measured 3.5" in diameter so to create the box I cut a piece of 12X12 paper down to 7" X 11" and scored (7") at 2" and 5"and the (11") at 2" and 9".  Next, I cut the square pieces along the four corners to make the flaps.  To the (inside) bottom of the box, I cut a piece of cardboard and covered with matching paper.  For the paper handle I doubled a strip of 1.5"X12" paper and attached with very strong adhesive tape.

The front of the box was simply decorated with a handcrafted bow with a large doodle button in the center.

Because the jars are fairly deep I was able to tuck in fairly substantial items inside!
For the first jar I added a mini flip-album:

I used a mini jar die from my stash to cut the page pieces from the pistachio cardstock. Die cut scalloped mats were cut from various patterns from the 6X6 paper pad. I embellished the pages with hand-stitched X's, as well as little stickers and enamels.

To the second jar I added COPIC colored tags, layered embellishment bits, clips and doodle twine!

Lastly, I tucked some white crinkle shred around the jars and it's ready for my Valentine ♥

Thank you for joining me today!

Love Notes Truck Decor | With Shellye

Love is in the air!  I decorate with clusters of seasonal vignettes throughout my home, so when I spied this cute wooden truck, I had to have it for a Valentine display.

I purchased this pre-cut wooden truck shape from Dollar General:

Next, I traced the various sections of the image (hearts, truck) onto patterned paper and trimmed out.   I used tacky glue when attaching the paper to the wood.

After die-cutting the wheels from grey cardstock, I accented the centers with a smaller circle and enamel dot. For the hub-cabs, I cut one circle from a 6X6 paper and then cut in half.  I used foam adhesive to attach the hub-cubs over the tires.  Next, I finished off the bottom of the truck with a scalloped sticker strip for the "step rail" :)

The truck also came with a wooden easel so that it could stand.  I simply cut patterned paper strips to cover the top and small strips of green cardstock for the edges.  For the grass I used another strip of green cardstock and cut into it randomly, creating a fringed look.  Next, I glued the strip of grass into the groove on top of the easel and then glued the truck in behind.

Finally, I used various stickers, die-cuts, doodle pops and sprinkle shapes to decorate!

I can't wait to find the perfect spot for my "lovely" truck! With so many wooden shapes available, I hope that you're able to find something similar to decorate...so much fun!
