Tweet on Doodlebug

Only 13 days 'til Valentine's Day and I have
four tweet cards to share that I made with
DOODLEBUG DESIGNS'
Lovebirds Collection

To begin my quartet of Lovebirds cards, I started with two 8.5x11 sheets of white cardstock.
I trimmed each sheet down to measure 8.5x10 and then scored so that each measured
4.25" X 5" when folded.  Next, in keeping with the whimsy of Doodlebug Designs,
I embossed the  card-fronts with a Swiss Dot design.
Now my palate is ready...I set out with various shaped dies to create scallops
doilies and squares from an assortment of "Lovebirds" patterned papers found in the 6x6 Paper Pad.
My style greatly follows the 'triangle theory' so you will notice that I will often add
one small detail at the top (i.e. stitched X, button, pearl, flower sticker, etc.) of my card designs.

 FOR YOU CARD:
I used two small scalloped dies and one larger, which was the focal point.
Before attaching the embellishments to the large scallop, I threaded through an X
of Ladybug Doodle Twine.  To the top of that I layered on the Doodle Tags sticker
and a Mini Doodle-Pops Bluejays with foam dots.
Next, a couple of the Icons rosey stickers were added...with Ladybug Heart Jewels
at the center of course!  I wanted the Swimming Pool Washi Tape banner to be 3-D,
so I taped it to a scrap piece of white cardstock and then trimmed out.
A little stitching across the center gave it just a bit of added texture.

 HAPPY VALENTINES CARD:
I wanted to focus on some of the Bubblegum hues found in the Lovebirds Collection!
After dressing a couple of chipboard-shaped banners with paper,
I added a little machine stitching to the edges of both pieces.  I layered the two together and then
outlined the smaller banner with an edging of Ladybug Doodle Twine...for this I like
to use a ballpoint-tip glue pen, which works like a charm.  Next, I made one piece from the
This & That and Doodle Tags stickers and centered over the banner.  A loop of
Ladybug Doodle Twine was tied on to the top of the birdcage sticker and a single
Bubblegum Heart Pearl ties the two pink lovebirds together.
In finishing, I applied a length of Ladybug Swiss Dot Washi Tape to a piece of
cardstock and topped with the same length of Fancy Frills border sticker
and then attached it to the top of the large banner.

 MY LOVE CARD:
Two different-sized squares layered together can be the back-drop for so many looks.
For this card I kept with the Ladybug and Swimming Pool colors,
so that helped me to determine what embellishments would be used.
After stitching the two squares together, I added the "My Love" This & That sticker
to the top, along with a bracket sticker.  A small X was stitched at over the point
of the bracket with Ladybug Doodle Twine. I layered a This & That heart sticker
with a Valentines Mini Doodle Pops heart and added it to the center of the square.
Two red punch-out hearts were collected from the Mini Love Notes and
attached with foam dots around each side of the larger heart.
Lily White Heart Pearls adorned each heart's center and a sweet bluejay sits perched atop.
In finishing I snipped a small length of ric-rac from the
Fancy Frills Stickers and placed it below the square.

I LOVE YOU CARD:
A pretty lace doily gets topped with a sweet journal spot This & That sticker
followed by the label sentiment. I didn't want to take away from the cuteness of the
different shapes all ready in play, so I simply added a Roses Are Red Mini Doodle Pops
accent that I embellished with a Lily White Heart Pearl and a bow of Cupcake Doodle Twine.
To the bottom, a border of Fancy Frills, which was also accented with
Cupcake Doodle Twine stitchings.

There are tons and tons and tons of Lovebirds projects up at the Doodlebug Blog:
