Picture Perfect Platter

Monday Greetings!
I am sharing an altered platter today at
BASIC GREY

Flea market finds such as old platters, plates or saucers can easily be transformed
into a delightful altered keepsake.  I have taken an oval platter and dressed up the center
of it with a paper-quilted collage that starts with a chipboard cut-out and strips of
patterned papers from the J’Adore Collection.

First, I traced the inner part of the platter and then cut the shape out from a medium
weight chipboard.  Next, 1″ strips of paper were cut and placed across the
 chipboard at a diagonal.

The paper’s overhang was trimmed off and then machine-stitches were made
between each strip. A pom pom trim was adding around the back edge of the chipboard
and the piece was adhered to the center of the platter with a high-tack adhesive glue.

Die-cuts from Spellbinders were used in creating the lacy heart embellishments.
The platter can be hung from a plate hanger or displayed on an easel.
