Dies that match with stamps don't always have to go hand-in-hand! Today I'm sharing a couple of cards using the Fairy Garden Collection and a set of the dies that coordinates with the collection's stamp set...oh and Doodle Pops of course!
Before starting on the design, I looked through the Fairy Garden Doodle Cuts and selected two basic dies. My intention was to create a 3D background for the cards by using the negative of the die cuts with a patterned paper behind it. Next, I prepared two A2 card bases from white cardstock (4.25"X5.5").
For the "You Are My Sunshine" Card, I first cut the 6X6 blue cloud patterned paper to 4"X5.25". I placed the two cloud dies randomly onto the paper and die cut several times; the die-cuts were saved for accenting the card later. Next, I used foam tape between the die-cut areas and around the edges of the paper and then adhered to a 4"X5.25" piece of the hearts paper. Lastly, I embellished with the cloud die-cuts, matching cloud sprinkles, Doodle Pop, paper frills and enamels!
To balance the sentiment banners (I cut the sentiment into two sections), I also die-cut a blue banner using the smallest die from the Large Tags Doodle Cuts.
On the "Follow Your Dreams" Card, I kept the design more focused on a centralized design rather than the randomness of the first. I placed the rainbow die in the very center top of the sprinkles paper and then at the center bottom to make two cuts. Foam tape was added as before and then the paper was mounted onto the multi-floral paper.
If you're so inclined, also think about adding acetate behind the die-cuts and adding sequins or beads for a shaker card! I just love the depth and dimension when you design from below and above the main layer. So even if you're not in the stamping mood, think about incorporating those dies in a new way!
