A good game of tic-tac-toe is fun for all ages! Today I'm sharing a quick design using a premade wooden box, but any square shape will do.
I started with a 5.5"X5.25" box that is actually a frame (found at Oriental Trading). I covered the sides and insides with patterned papers from the Fairy Garden Collection and then covered with Mod Podge.
Next I used my Cricut to cut nine boxes so that they measured 1.5" square. You could also use premade boxes or wooden boxes of the same size and cover with squares of paper! I also chose tabbed boxes so that small treats or prizes could be placed inside of each one.
I also added some pom pom trim around the inner opening of the wooden box. This keeps the boxes from shifting around too much inside and also gives a sweet finishing touch.
I also hot glued two of the Pixie Sticks in place (or any small stick or even chenille stem would do) vertically to that players will have a guide of where to place their block.
The tops of the boxes were simply decorated with square and circle die-cuts using the Mini Tag Doodle Cuts. Next I added the X's and O's (I cut one Q's tail off for the 5th O) from the My Type Sticker Letters. Little bits of stickers and sprinkles were added as accents.
Lastly I added a chenille stem through the two premade holes at the back of the box. If holes aren't present in your box, just use hot glue to add the stem to the inside or backside of the box.
I layered on the two rainbow die-cuts (back to back) and then embellished!
I'm personally carrying this game to place in my office at school. When students are waiting to be picked up, we can have a quick game of tic-tac-toe!
