What Costume?

It's the middle Saturday of the month, 
which means it's time for the 
AUTHENTIQUE COLOR CHALLENGE


Almond, pumpkin and licorice...sounds like a very interesting potpourri :)
The colors are perfectly represented by Authentique's Enchanted Collection, 
so I went with a layout of collaged photos taken for the mustache challenge!

 I also used the chipboard mustache and hat from Basically Bare
and decided to dress up one of the photos in the actual wares!
I cut the bottom of the paper in a scroll to mimick the contour of the 'stache :)

Here are the details of the challenge:
 
- You will have until Wednesday, October 3rd at midnight {PST} to enter.

- You will need to create a separate entry for each submission. 
{You can submit as many projects as you want!}

- Use the Linky Tool at the bottom of the post to link
 directly to your entry.

- You must provide a link somewhere in your entry back 

- Anyone can play along, but you must use products from 
Authentique Paper on your project if you would like to be able to win.
 {You can add in whatever other products you'd like...
as long as you are using at least 50% Authentique
 Paper product on your project.}

Unity + My Little Shoebox

Hello! Welcome to my contribution to the

It's New Release Week of My Little Shoe Box stamps at Unity
and here is a peek at the two designs that I had a chance to craft with 
 
I tried this stamp in a couple of different fashions.  
I wanted to be able to color in the mushrooms in various colors, so I went
with stamping the background stamp onto the actual card-front.
I incorporated watercolor pencils and markers to achieve the look that I wanted :)

Cream Alphabet Stickers and Coming Home-Soaring Above Paper
 This next project actually started out with the intention of being a card :)
 Sometimes when you sit and stare at something long enough, you 
know it's time to try another avenue!
 For the mushrooms, I stamped the image three different times:
onto a swatch of Vintage Shop-Rose Ribbon & Heirloom (back) and
 Oh Deer- A Walk in the Woods papers by MLS.
After cutting and piecing them together, I began embellishing with
other elements from My Little Shoebox:
Cream Alphabet Letters; Vintage Shop-Cardstock Sticker; hand-cut butterflies
from Secret Garden-Dorothy and Notebook-Truly Yours.

Uno, Dos, Tres

That is the name for the
Wednesday CARDS Challenge

is brimming with numbers and numerals,
 I thought a digit-themed card would be fun.

The Sweetest Ev-er!

Monday, Monday and that means it's time for the
EAD BLOG HOP & GIVEAWAY


You should be arriving here from Roses's Blog.
I wanted something fun and bright for this week's hop.
I chose the candy-colored cupcake Stickerz by Tinytwinies

and patterned paper by Bella Blvd in creating my card for this week.

From my computer, I used the font Kinkie for the sentiment.
I applied the clear Stickerz to a white cardstock and then trimmed out.  
By doing this I was able to apply the cupcakes to the card-front using different
thicknesses of foam dots.

Just Chillin'

Time for a little bit of Unity today!
This post is dedicated to the last two Unity

Last week's SOTW
by the very talented Phyllis Harris

In deciding what colors to use on the stamped image, I first grabbed
the Howdy Doody Collection by My Mind's Eye.  I chose watercolor pencils
that matched the soft feel of the papers.  
Don't you just love this image?!?

Card Corner!

Happy Wednesday!
I've spent 1/4 of this day thinking that it was Tuesday...
that's what a Monday holiday will do to you :)
I'm sharing a couple of cards that I made for 
Monthly Challenge and this week's Card Corner.

For the Card Corner Challenge we were asked to use Roly Rosies
in some form or fashion...here's what I came up with:
 Harkening back to the Owl Card that I made a few months ago,
I decided to once again use Roly Rosies in an unconventional way and 
fashion them as the eyes for my jack 'o lantern!

I started with a 4" circle and hand-cut leaves 
(I free-handed these, but svg files or punches could be used instead).
For the "stem", I cut a small portion from one of the Neutral Roly Rosies.
After rolling and securing the medium-sized Roly Rosies (black), I punched a small
circle that I then embellished with an even smaller glittered circle for the eyes.

Adding adhesive from the POGO Dispenser is an easy way to adhere 
the circle to the center of each bloom.  Lastly, I cut a some-what shewed
rectangle to create the nose.
Supply List: Makin' Waves: Surf's Up 12x12 Paper, Fish 12x12 Paper; 
Monster Mash: Fall Medley 12x12 Paper, Pick of the Patch 12x12 Paper and 
Magic Words 5 x 12 Sticker Stacker; Roly Rosies - Neutrals;
 Tools: Hybrid Petal Roller, POGO Adhesive Dispenser and Colored Foam Tape - White

Imaginisce September Monthly Challenge
participants are asked to create a card or layout using:
2 photos, a chevron pattern/design, 2 patterned papers and 2 embellishments.
Here's my take on the challenge...a card for my dad's birthday!
 I downloaded a couple of golf-related photos from the internet and 
used the HELLO CUPCAKE Collection to complete the card.

Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Something Borrowed, Something Blue 
is the name for the very first CARDS Challenge for September at

The Nook will be closing its doors at the end of this month, but boy, they're
going out with a bang with this final kit by Echo Park Paper:
"For the Record2"
The blues, greens and yellows are a perfect way to end the Summer.
For my challenge, I've asked participants to create a card using:

Something Borrowed: this can be anything unconventional to scrapbooking.
 Scour the house for an unusual item...use a cookie cutter as a template, 
fabric from an old dress, jewelry, or the image from a gift card as the inspiration
...just anything that inspires will do!
Something Blue:  make any color blue as your main color scheme.

Here's my take on the challenge:


Something Borrowed:  I always save bits and pieces of interesting clothing...especially denim.
  I cut a small piece from an old shirt and lined the back with a bit of batting and then machine
stitched into a heart design.

This card is two-part as I wanted to share some more of the lovelies that can
be found at PRO 31 DESIGNS

The blue braided trim and pearls, as well as the turquoise paper flowers

Gobblin' 'til Wobblin'

Happy Labor Day to my fellow Americans
and a big welcome to the 
 EAD DESIGNS BLOG HOP & GIVEAWAY

I love a cute turkey and I love the saying:
"Gobble til you wobble"
If we truly get our fill at Thanksgiving, then we are definitely wobblin'
and moaning about how we ate too much :)
I made this little turkey-guy sign and plan to hang it somewhere
on the days right before (and on) Thanksgiving

 The signage from EAD Designs can be found in the Rub-Ons section.
Rub-Ons can be added to glass, stoneware, plastic, paper, wood
...in fact, just about any smooth surface!
And with Rub-Ons, you can choose from a huge variety of colors
 
In creating this guy, I used the largest of the Nesting Lace Circle Dies
 by Lifestyle Crafts, along with one of the mid-sized dies.
Patterned papers for the body by Authentique Paper's  Enchanted Collection
and the feathers by Authentique Paper's Fresh Collection
To make this extra-sturdy, I also backed the body with matching sized
chipboard pieces.

PUMPKIN TRIO HANGING
 I created this little trio wall-hanging especially for this issue:



When we were first introduced to the color scheme I knew that I had 
seen something very similar at one point in time.
  A-ha!  My Mind's Eye Mischievous of course!
I created the layered pumpkins with the nesting lace dies by Lifestyle Crafts.
I also used a couple of different punches that I had on hand, as well as creating
my own template for the large pumpkin leaves and nose.  
 Isn't it the sweetest?!?

Cocoa & The Outdoors

Good Saturday Afternoon!
I've been trying to get over here all day, but other
things have been getting in my way...
you know: laundry, making deviled eggs for my dad's
birthday party tomorrow and cleaning the bathrooms.
No matter how hard I try, I simply cannot get around this
house-cleaning thing LOL

I just couldn't wait to share my newest projects for
SIMPLE STORIES!
I'm up on the blog today

I snapped several photos of the family having fun out-of-doors last November. 
 The {Take A Hike} Collection not only brings out the colors in the photo perfectly, 
but captures the warm and rustic feel that nature evokes.
 For the 'mat' I used a sheet from the 6x6 paper pad, along with several basic patterns.  

 Part of my love for Simple Stories is the plethora of cardstock stickers that 
are offered with each collection.  I paired up the two different sticker letters to create
 the title for my page.  I did add a thin foam dot to the backs of the square letters.

In keeping with the outdoor theme, I added embellishments of rusty metal stars,
 wooden buttons and jute twine.  I picked up the stars from the 
 Christmas aisle at Hobby Lobby!

We shop a lot at a wholesale food club
.  Whether it's my mom who goes or myself, we tend to split up our goods
 between the two households.  During a particular trip my mom just couldn't
pass up an extra big box of colorfully packaged cocoa mixes :)  
I like to sit mine out on the counter when the cooler months arrive,
 so I derived this helpful cocoa bin from an empty Keuring coffee box
 and the {Handmade Holiday} assortment!
 Two sheets of 12x12 paper cover the larger-sized box perfectly.
  I simply used the contur of the box as the template, trimmed the excess and then glued into place.  

 In wanting to hide the opening of the box and its rather tattered edges,
 I glued on a bit of pretty trim.  And of course I just had to top it off with a gingham bow!

 I had the most fun creating the inviting little embellishment for the front of the bin.
  I love layering  journal cards with various cardstock stickers, buttons and other textured accents.

 And here's a peek at how the sides of the box look.  
For the top, I just creased the paper neatly before gluing down...much like wrapping a present!  
This would make such a sweet little gift for anyone on your list this Christmas Season :)
