Newton's Nook Reveal Day #5

Happy Friday and Welcome to Day #5 of the
NEWTON'S NOOK DESIGNS'
Holiday Release for October 2014

Today's stamp reveal is "Christmas Delivery"

For my final card this week I went with some simple
watercoloring on the reverse side of a piece of textured cardstock.
I added some subtle shading by making certain areas a little darker
with the watercolor pencils.
The card front was embossed to resemble a snowy background.

Newton's Nook October Release Reveal Day #4

Happy Thursday and Welcome to Day #4 of the
NEWTON'S NOOK DESIGNS'
Holiday Release for October 2014

Today's stamp reveal is "Newton's Curious Christmas"

Up next is my favorite card of mine that I did for this week's reveal!
It all came together just the way I had planned:

I stamped the image onto white textured cardstock twice.
I colored Newton separately with a gray Le Plume marker and then
cut him out, except for the paws.

I colored in the snowman's scarf, nose, and bird with Le Plume Markers
and then used a scruffy brown ink pad to distress around the edges.

If you look closely, you can see a little sprinkling of clear glitter over part
of the snowman's side!
After cutting an oval shaped piece, I distressed the edge of it
with the same brown ink and then attached some ric rac trim.
Patterned papers are by Jillibean Soup and ribbon by Martha Stewart.

Newton's Nook October Reveal Day #3

Happy Wednesday and Welcome to Day #3 of the
NEWTON'S NOOK DESIGNS'
Holiday Release for October 2014

Today's stamp reveal is "Flaky Family"
The possibilities with this stamp set is just too many to list!
My first thought:  those personalized clay ornaments that you find
at the mall or at a craft fair?  That is the look that I was going for,
but on a card instead. You could easily transfer the idea to an ornament though!

I selected a snowman/woman to represent each member of my family :)
I stamped them onto smooth, white cardstock and then trimmed out.
Next I decided the placement for each onto the blue striped background paper.

You can add some shading to the snowpeople with a dab of grey ink and
a dauber or sponge.  For the faces I used pink chalk for the ladies' cheeks
and an orange pencil for the noses.

The ribbon (by Martha Stewart) completed my sentiment and blends
in nicely with the beautiful base paper by Authentique!

Newton's Nook Designs Reveal Day #2

Happy Tuesday and Welcome to Day #2 of the
NEWTON'S NOOK DESIGNS'
Holiday Release for October 2014

Today's stamp reveal is "Holiday Hounds"

I just love this adorable set!  I stamped this ferocious little guy
onto brown cardstock and used some walnut ink and a sponge
dauber to shade around the bottom!

I pieced the rest of his attire after stamping onto
different papers, cutting out and then gluing into place :)

The Christmasy papers are by Martha Stewart and the ribbon by May Arts!

Newton's Nook October New Release Reveal #1

Happy Monday and Welcome to Day #1 of the
NEWTON'S NOOK DESIGNS'
Holiday Release for October 2014

Today's stamp reveal is "Winston's Home For Christmas"

I love the homespun feel that Winston evokes, so I went with
a distress tag, gingham and jute to decorate this kraft gift box!

After stamping Winston onto a cream textured cardstock (with Staz On),
I watercolored the image and then distressed with Walnut Ink spray.
The image was cut out with an oval die and then distressed around the edges.

The sentiment was stamped onto a strip of patterned paper and then trimmed
out in a banner-tag fashion.

Pinterest Inspired With Bella Blvd

It's Pinterest Inspired Thursday at
BELLA BLVD
and we have this adorable, crafty photo as our inspiration:

Here are my two cards based on the inspiration found in the photo:

“Thankful For You” card
I was inspired by the tall, vertical pumpkins in the Pinterest photo,
so I created a vertical woodgrain panel by cutting three strips, attaching them
to a square of cardstock and then stitching them together. The strip of pumpkins
and sentiment was inspired by the small cluster of pumpkins in the photo.

Supplies: Hello Autumn: Trinkets, Treasures & Text, Borders, Day Dream,
Gatherings, Perfect Pick; Button Market: Wood Mix

“Pumpkin Pair” card
For this card I went for the total look of the pumpkins represented in the Pinterest photo.
After die-cutting the circle shapes, I inked around the edges with a darker orange ink.
Next, I die cut the leaves and stem and inked around those as well. I chose to turn
the larger pumpkin into a jack 'o lantern by adding two enamel dots for the eyes
and the letter "D" for the mouth. I used a black pen to color in one of the
 diamond shapes for the nose!

Supplies: Halloween Magic: Pumpkin Parade, Boo Buddies, Hocus Pocus,
Goblin Treats, Treasures & Text; Hello Autumn: Gatherings

More ideas are showcased on the Bella Blog :)
Happy Thursday!

Pinterest Monday With Scraptastic Club

Yay!  I'm so happy to be sharing my first project with
SCRAPTASTIC KIT CLUB
and their October "Heart It Races" Kit.

Today was Pinterest Monday and Madeline and I have used this
 photo for our inspiration:

I was inspired by the different decorative strips found in the inspiration photo.

I cut an edge from the pink doily and used it to mimic the scalloped design.
Next I cut 1" strips and stacked them on top of each other and then stitched in placed.
There are so many fun elements in the October "Heart It Races" Kit, but I went with
the cute fox flair button and one of the label stickers for the sentiment.

There is lots and lots of sweet ideas and inspiration to be found on the
Scraptastic Club Blog!  And be sure to stop by and see Madeline's take on
the PIN with an adorable layout!

Card Corner| Evergreen

Melissa and I shared a few cards with the new "Evergreen" Collection by
BASIC GREY

Evergreen is a Christmas holiday collection filled with beautiful
colors and artwork that Basic Grey is well-known for.
If you love the traditional BG Christmas collections as much as I do,
then you will want to add this one to your wish list :)

Our challenge was to use the various shaped stickers on our cards.
Now with BG you have chipboard stickers and cardstock stickers, so I used
both on my two cards!
Come on by the BLOG to see close-ups and cards by Melissa Phillips too!

Harvest Banner

I cannot express to you how much I truly, for real love this collection:
Grateful by Authentique Paper.
It's yummy beyond words with colors such as dusty pink,
vibrant oranges, rust, mint green and pine...it's soothing yet warming
at the same time!  If you love all things Fall and Thanksgiving, then you
must get this collection in your little hands!

I'm sharing a quick chipboard banner that I made with a precut pumpkin
shaped mini album that I found at Michael's.  I just traced, cut and pasted!

Come on by the blog today and see close-up photos and
instructions on how I put it together :)

In the meantime, here are just a few of my absolute favorite
pieces from the Grateful Collection:

Beau-tiful, right?  Just click on the link above to see the collection in its entirety!
