the Trick or Trick Collection! Short, three or four lettered words offer a great chance
to use up those cool chipboard alphabet stickers too. I cut a strip of owls from the
Borders paper and then added a row of similar borders below it using some
Designer Tape and cardstock sticker

This card first started out being simply yellow and black.
Then I went into town and saw a lady wearing a black and yellow dress accessorized
with a red pair of shoes and necklace. So, I came back and added the red flower button
and strip of red/white polka dot designer tape to the bottom ... perfect!
The sentiments found on the We Are Family Bookplates are fantastic for cardmakers.
The sentiment on this card has always been a favorite of mine.

From Michael's craft store I purchased this inexpensive tote bag and felt bat...
together it was less than $5. I kept the design basic by adding lengths
of Black/White Swiss Dot ribbon to the sides and then adding a row of the
puffy Bat Trim to just the bottom. Two large buttons at the top finished the look.
After gluing the bat in place, I outlined the shape with a fabric glue and
Black/White Baker's Twine. I gave him pom pom eyes and a pom pom nose...I
love how adding these pieces made him even more whimsical!
A pretty Orange/White Oval bow, a candy corn button by Dress-It Up
and my "Batty Bat Bag" is complete!

For my 'ribbon cutting' project I went with a simply simple treat bag for Halloween
together it was less than $5. I kept the design basic by adding lengths
of Black/White Swiss Dot ribbon to the sides and then adding a row of the

I'm just thrilled to be sharing my very first video tutorial with all of you:
ALL-IN-ONE TREAT BOX
I've used the brand new Halloween collection, THRILLING by Authentique Paper!
Here is a little peek at the completed project:
Now for the video tutorial on how to create this all-in-one box:
To complete the front of the box I used a Lace Nesting Die from Lifestyle Crafts
for the large mat and then layered with different circles of patterned paper and stickers
from the 12X12 Details Sticker Sheet.
Petaloo flowers and a May Arts Ribbon bow add some softness and fun.
The cute jack'o lantern is from Recollections...I placed it over the pumpkin
that was a part of the sticker design.
And don't forget to dress up the inside of the box!
To make the box even-more functional, I punched two small holes in the top

I cut it in half at an angle...even the left-over portion would make cute wings too;
I was actually torn as to which wings I liked best :)
I chalked around the shapes with a bit of white just to give some depth.
For the ears, I used one of the blooms from the Petite Petals Punch and
attached it to the back of the oval. The eyes are two small pearls that I dotted with a
black permanent marker...juxtapose them a little so that he looks batty and confused LOL
The bottom layers were punched from the Thrilling Paper Bundle using a 2.25" scallop punch
and circle punch. Oh and the white label is a premade from Stampin' Up!

Focus on the Square
I totally missed the new Monday Morning Challenge at Bella Blvd
so here we go!
"Each Monday we will offer up a challenge, and share with you our designers take
on that challenge. Today we are focusing on the square. Whether it's square elements,
square embellishments, or square photos, we challenged our designers to focus on
the square as they created their layouts and cards." --Laura Vegas, Bella Blvd
I will admit that this was more of a challenge for me than I thought!
But here they are...my two "Focus on the Square" cards:
After cutting two different sizes of squares, I cut each set into triangles and then pieced
them back together with alternating patterns! I die-cut one of the journal card sentiments
into a square and added it with foam dots. Because the journal card included a cluster of
strawberries, I decided to keep with that motif and created a cute crochet heart strawberry.
Just add cut out leaves, a stem and small pearls.

I used one of the borders from the Borders paper as the focus for this card.
I cut four 1.75" tiles and layered them onto a mat of patterned paper. Two of the squares
were added with foam dots, which gave a nice 3-D effect. I cut the tabs sticker into a
square and added it to the center point of the design.

A happy Wednesday, friends!
I have a couple of things on hand today that I made to share at
SIMPLE STORIES
While perusing the 'decorate-your-locker' aisle with my daughter,
she stated how much she wanted a couple of magnetic organizers to hang up...
my thought immediately went to Smarty Pants and how I could adapt
her ideas into things I could make at home!
First up is a very simple steno-styled notebook.
I made this using a sheet of medium weight chipboard that I cut into two 4" X 6" strips.
Next, I cut four pieces of patterned paper to the same size as the chipboard and attached
to each side with a strong adhesive (I love Sookwang double-sided adhesive).
For the front cover you can choose from a variety of designs and sizes of journal cards.
Layer on stickers and add a few brads or other decorative pieces to make your notebook one-of-a-kind.
The inner pages can be made up of notebook, graph or copy paper...just cut the pages down
so that they measure approximately 1/4" smaller than the actual album.
Reserve the left-over cuts of paper for the project below. Use a binding system or rings
to complete the notebook. You can also add a small magnet to the back cover
so that it can be hung inside of a locker.
Slip those extra cuts of paper from the notebook project into one of the SN@P Pockets!
Decorate the front and add a magnet to the back.
I took a wide 1" ribbon and applied it to the back of the SN@P Cuts opening with fabric glue.
This would make a sweet teacher gift that could hang on the side of a filing cabinet.
Lastly I have a card that I made for the booth at the CHA-Summer Show!
I fell in love with the cute bus motif! What a great card for those bus drivers who safely
transport our kids to and from school :)

We still have two weeks left until that first bell rings and welcomes
in the new school year, but I know a lot of kids have started back to class all ready...so long Summer!

I found this very inexpensive chalkboard/white board easel at Hobby Lobby...just add a
dry erase marker and you have a complete gift!
I created my own 3-D clipboard by cutting-out and then layering different pieces from the
"Take Note" Ditto Dots Double-Sided Cardstock.
Wanting to expand the look of the Doodle-Pop pencil, I cut it in half and then adhered just under
the apple motif. A double row of Doodle-Twine gives a nice finishing touch around the edge of the easel.

Today I have two cards up with
LITTLE YELLOW BICYCLE
I picked a couple of the newer collections and Naturals embellishments and went to town...
I pulled together a few different shaped pieces from the Vintage Summer
Decorative Edge Cardstock and Journaling Cards and layered them to create a fun background.
To help ground the design, I applied one of the green vellum tapes to a piece of cardstock,
trimmed out and then applied it to the bottom of the card.
I used the warm and sunny vellum tapes from the Poppy Collection as the inspiration for this card.
First, I cut a piece of cardstock to the desired size and then wrapped different pieces of the tapes
around it, alternating patterns. Following in the color scheme, I added a few more items from
the collection, along with a touch of black.

I have a duo of sweet, sweet cards today using the

I love the color scheme and the hint of chalkboard fun in this collection.
And you can never dismiss the adorable artwork that Authentique always seems to find!
I love the gorgeous detail and scroll work in the punch-out card...pair it up with
the whimsy of the gingerbread men and patterned papers and you have a truly unique look!
In this collection you will also find punch-out circles, which made a nice back-drop
for the focal-point of this card. I used a die to cut the border (from the 6X6 paper pad).
The sweet gingerbread embellishments are from our friends at Petaloo!
Honestly, there are so many fun elements in this collection that I had a hard time trying to pick what to use! For this card I used another one of the punch-out cards from the Titles & Phrases sheets.
I trimmed an edge from a scrolled frame and tucked it in at the bottom of the sentiment.
I carried the black theme to the top and paired up a scalloped circle die cut with
the nostalgic Santa sticker. A few glitter holly leaves and buttons from my stash and it's complete.
