One thing about moms: they love a handmade card, especially when it’s handmade by you!

 I’ve employed the beautiful new “Tea Garden” Collection in making these two cards for my Mom and Mother-in-law for the upcoming Mother’s Day on May 10^th.

 The first card features a design that I like to use a lot, especially when incorporating

 a vertical journal card. I trimmed the journal card down a bit so that it could be

 matted with a border of the green dot paper from the collection. The green paper

 was outlined (on the back) in a chenille ric-rac trim and then attached to the

 center of the card front.

The focal point of the card consists of a die-cut piece that I created with the “Labels 14”
 die by Spellbinders. I layered on one of the pretty label stickers and then affixed
 the letters to spell out “mom”. The little bird was hand-cut from the “Chai” paper.
A trio of resin flowers from the “Vivenne” collection was added to complete the look.

 The second card is 6X6 in size, which accommodates the large die-cut doily shape nicely.
A 4” circle was cut from the “Spiced” paper and then trimmed around the edge with a
 dainty picot cording.


From the back of the “Green Tea” paper, the letter “M” and the flower around it were
hand-cut and attached to the center of the circle with foam adhesive.
The circle sticker was snipped apart and then looped around the square.
Medium sized light green Candy Dots dressed up the sticker.
With the “Tea Garden” Collection, the ideas are endless when it comes to
 making beautiful cards for any occasion!

This past week I shared a couple of cards over at the 

 focusing on using dies to create interesting frames

  featuring the “Jack and Jill” Collection.

 

I started with a tabbed chipboard album that I had on hand and used

 Carta Bella’s Kraft Paper for the base pages.  I cut smaller mats from various

 “Sunny Days Ahead” papers and machine stitched them in place 

before adhering to the chipboard.

On the front cover I used a round punch and a piece from the 6X6 paper pad to make the journal card’s sun 3-D; just adhere with foam adhesive and you have a really fun look.

 If you’re giving your album as a gift, print off a few related photos (I found mine 

on the internet by searching for “vintage rain photos”) and add them to the

 pages with repositionable adhesive.  This is a good way to show 

placement ideas to the recipient.

Next, the “Spring” sentiment was die-cut from the  “Spring Flowers Die”. 
I wanted the letters to follow the contour of the sun shape, so I snipped the letters
 apart and then affixed them to the image.


The small number stickers from the Element Sticker Sheet are the perfect
bullet points for the journal card…add a list of your favorite spring activities.

Today I'm sharing over at 

with an easy-to-make gifting mini album using the "I Am" Collection. 

To begin I started with three of the components from the Interactive Elements: the larger

 4X6 flip element, the matchbook element and the tri-fold element:

 I adhered the two smaller elements to the inside pages of the 4X6 element with 

a high-tack adhesive. 

The front was decorated with chibpoard stickers and a ribbon bow. 

When the album is first opened, the original pages from the 4X6 element is given.

  I added a strand of washi tape, a chipboard butterfly, etc.

  The opposite page was left blank.

When the page is turned, you will find the tri-fold element has been added

 to the right-hand page.

Here is a close-up of the front of the tri-fold.

To the inside of the tri-fold, a 3X4 journal card was attached.  The other pages

 were left plain so that small photos or journaling can be added.

As you go further into the 4X6 flip element, the pages get larger.  The left-hand side

 of the page was lightly embellished and the right-hand side is where the

 matchbook-style element was added. 

Just the front of the matchbook element was embellished; the inside pages were left as-is.

I wanted the back of the album to be a bit more sturdy, so a piece of medium-weight 

chipboard was cut slightly smaller than the 4X6 size.  After adhering the chipboard

 to the back page, a covering was made by adding one of the 4X6 journal cards.

Now I have the perfect little girlie-girl gift on hand...with a teenaged daughter, 

we're always needing a last-minute gift for a friend :)

I Am Collection- 

For the first card we are using the cone portion of the Ice Cream Cone Die Set 

 to make an interesting background.  The image was die-cut twice from two 

different pattern papers found in the Mini Theme.

A base paper was cut to 3 3/8”W X 4 5/8”H; this was the width and height of the 

four cones when they were placed edge to edge.  The cones were attached to the 

base paper and then machine stitched in place.

The T-Rex dinosaur was added with foam adhesive and finished off with a couple 

of stickers from the mini collection, as well as enamel dots.  The brown and green

 mats were cut from the Bundle of Joy Boy 6X6 Paper Pad.

 The second card also uses one of the dinosaur shapes from the Silhouette file, but 

I have cut it twice, from two different patterns.  I layered the two together by offsetting

 the top layer just up and to the right of the bottom piece.  I used foam adhesive to

 adhere them together.  The bottom layer adds a really cool 3-D effect.

 Using the larger of the Designer Label Dies, I die cut a small landing for the 

dinosaur shape and added it to the card-front.

The palm tree sticker was placed to the right side of the label with foam adhesive

 and the dinosaur layered on top.  From the “dinosaur” banner stickers,

 I used the “U” and “R” to create part of the card’s sentiment.
