Happy Hump Day!

Hello and a Happy Saturday!  

As promised, I have a quick video of my January Memory Dex System by Heidi Swapp

I purchased the dies and card holder at Amazon.com 

The papers, stickers and embellishments are all older collections from my stash. 

I mixed-and-matched pieces from Authentique Paper, Echo Park, Carta Bella & DCWV

and it turned out quite beautifully!

Happy Snow Day!

I've been making a lot of embroidery hoop art as of late

and today's snow day was the perfect day for it.

Happy New Year's Greetings!

So I've been pretty busy since school started in August and since then I've purged, reorganized and streamlined my craft room.  Things that I use often are within reach and collections collected from my Design Team days have been organized by holiday, theme, color, etc.  Crafting when I have a few spare minutes or an afternoon is much easier now!

I'm working on a little video of my new obsession: the memory dex.

Talk about the perfect thing to work on while binging on Netflix LOL

Now onto a couple of things that I've crafted this week...

I let a lot of things expire in my Etsy shop, but I must, must, MUST clear some things out so I've restocked and have even added these two new mini albums.  

Does the black chipboard album look familiar?  It's a favorite of mine from the hey-day of 

Cosmo Cricket and the scrapbook club that I owned at the time.  

And how about that shabby little elephant?  Yep!  Old, old (OLD) Basic Grey :)

Using up supplies that I've been hoarding is absolutely one of the BEST feelings as a crafter!

Hey, y'all!  Hope you're having a great weekend!

I've tackled a few projects over the last couple of days and 

filling orders from my Etsy Shop :)  Today I've listed four brand new Pocket Letters.

What are Pocket Letters?  I'm not sure who coined the phrase or birthed the idea, but basically they are a baseball card sleeve (with 9 pockets) that are filled with all sorts of goodies for planners, cardmaking or other papercrafting projects! I LOVE curating them for folks and customers seem to really love them as well.  Take a look:

I find all of these really cute, vintage reproduction style ATC cards on Etsy and add them to the various pockets.  Then I tuck in the fun embellishments that can be used (primarily) to decorate pages of planners!  You can hole punch the ATC cards and add them to the rings of the binder or adhere them to a calendar page.  Sequins are fun for those who like to maker shaker pages.  And of course, paperclips, labels and stickers are a must for the planner girl!  

I tie them up in pretty ribbon so they're all ready to go for the gift-giver :)

Happy Sunday!

It was a rainy afternoon and all of the chores were done, so I 

sat down to create this cute 'lil patriotic ornament/tag/sign just in 

time for Independence Day!  Would be perfect hanging on a lighted tree, 

a cabinet knob or door :)

In my stash are a bunchhhh of these scalloped acrylic pages that were designed

for mini albums. I cut a piece of chipboard to measure slightly smaller than the

acrylic piece and then dressed (both sides) with patterned papers from Echo Park Paper.

The edges were distressed with a walnut ink and then attached it to the back with

 Sookwang adhesive tape (I placed the tape strategically so it would be

hidden by the piece on front of the acrylic).

For the front, I used a die-cut chipboard piece covered in this cute patriotic plaid print.

The little retro girl (I found by searching "free patriotic clip art) was printed onto

heavy cardstock, trimmed out and added with foam tape, along with the blue

glitter die cuts.  

I made up a strand of crepe paper fringe  and adhered it to the bottom of 

the chipboard frame, along with a piece of paper straw.

Buttons were tied with jute and added to the top of the fringe.

A boutique style bow was added to the side with a craft tag boasting USA

attached to the center of it.  Ribbon was inserted through the top holes to

create the hanger for this little cutie!

Hello everyone! 

I wanted to take a minute to welcome you to my new blog

(not sure what happened to the other...I think that's one of the non-perks of 

having a customized web address).  

Anywho!  I was able to transfer all of the old posts to this one, so nothing will be missed :)

Now that Summer (as far as school terms go...) is here, I'm clearing out

crafty stuff and listing things in my Etsy Shop that I've been holding onto for a little too long

(I've always been a bit of a hoarder, even though my mother referred to it as a 'pack rat')

I've spent the week organizing my things; hopefully it will be easier to sit and craft

when I get the chance.

New Listings...New Projects

I've had this tri-fold frame in my stash for some time now.  I added some additional

pages to the back (from some Maya Road chipboard houses) and turned it into a mini album!

I've also been curating some cute Ephemera Kits....I so love curating!

They're mixed with flea market finds, vintage ephemera and current products.

The holiday brings lots of parties and open houses, so 

if you're planning to attend one and need a fun and functional gift, here is an idea!

I've taken a dollar store gift box (size 5"X5") and a few other supplies from Xyron & WRMK:

To the left is a look at the cardboard gift box.  I've also used a mason jar steel rule die that measures

5"W X 7"H and cut two pieces of chipboard with it.

Next, I cut out matching jar shapes from the Yuletide Collection from We R Memory Keepers.

Adhesive was applied using the Xyron Creative Station with permanent adhesive.  

Both sides of the chipboard was then dressed with the patterned paper pieces.

I also wanted to cover the sides of the box, so I cut another pattern of paper to size and 

then used the Xyron Creative Station Lite to add adhesive to those pieces.

For the top of the mason jar, I cut out a "lid" and used the 1.5" Sticker Maker to apply

 adhesive to the back.  

The mason jar pieces were adhered to the front and back of the box and then decorated

with other accents from the collection.

Now it's ready to be filled with goodies of any kind and the hostess will love it!

There are also other large shapes available such as houses, trees, stars, etc. that you

could use in place of the jar.

It's back to school time for teachers and students of all kinds!

My middle son's girlfriend wanted something to hang on her dorm

room door at college, so I created this whimsical mason jar-style hanger.

 For the base, I started with a turquoise dot-embossed poster board from We R Memory Keepers...

but you could also use regular poster board and paint if you can't find blue!  For a padded

hanger like this, you will also want a matching piece of poster board for the back.

I free-handed the design and cut the shape (basically, cornering the edges and cutting away a 

portion at the top for the lid) from both poster board.  Next, I machine-stitched the two

pieces together around the edge with a sewing machine.  I lightly stuffed the jar with

fiber fill and then glued the top together.  

I created the lid from a silver mat paper, also from We R Memory Keepers.  I ran

the piece through the Xyron Creative Station (with 9" permanent adhesive) and attached it.
Lines were drawn on with a permanent marker to create the ridges in the lid.

I used my Eclips to cut out the large lettering and a few sunflowers that I found at 

Miss Kate Cuttables.  The font that I've used is Brannboll Felt, which closely resembles 

the "Ball" jar font.  

Again, I used the Xyron Creative Station to adhere all of my cut-out pieces together quickly...

and I know they'll stay STUCK :)

If you notice that some of the adhesives sticks to the edges of the paper when you pull off 

the top film, just rub your finger gently over the adhesive and it will roll away.

In finishing, I took a white marker and added a bevel to the bottom of the jar :)

Some thick gauged wire was used for the hanger...and don't forget a name tag and pretty ribbon!
