Easel cards are a fairly new concept to me even though they've been around for quite some time! Today I'm sharing a set of four cards featuring the
Hey Cupcake and Party Time Collections
The formula for creating the card base is simple:
Cut an 8.5"X11" sheet of cardstock in half along the width; your two (cut) pieces will measure 4.25"X11". Next, score the length at 2.75" and 5.5".
The mats and designing will take place on the first 2.75" flap.
Cut a mat of patterned paper to measure 4"X5.25" and attach to the inside of the card (the non-scored 4.25"X5.5" section).
Next, cut another mat of the same size. The mat will be attached to the first flap, so be sure to apply adhesive to the bottom half of the mat only.
To decorate I used various stand-alone dies, swatches of create-a-cards, die-cuts, stickers, etc.
Finally, for each of the cards, I created a "stopper" to maintain the easel shape.
I used border stickers and die-cuts and then attached them with foam adhesive about 1/3" of the way down.

Party Time Party Favors
With the adorable new "Party Time" Collection, decorations, cupcake toppers, and party favors easily come together to create a smashing celebration!
For my project today I'm focusing on the tokens of appreciation: mini coloring books attached to a box of wrapped crayons :)
I've incorporated some of the new Doodle Cuts, Stamps and pieces from the collection to make these tag-style coloring books.
First, I die-cut the tag shapes from smooth, white cardstock and then stamped the images for each booklet. I layered on smaller elements such as hats, balloons and wagons to the scenes.
Next, I crafted a front and back cover by adding a die-cut piece of patterned paper to two blank tags. Layers of die-cut circles, stickers, ribbon and a stamped "thank you" were added to the fronts!
A 1" ring was used to hold each booklet together.
Next I made a wrap, from patterned paper, to cover the 24 count crayon box. The coloring book was then attached to the box with a simple strang of chunky twine!
I also covered a 5" box with paper to create this sweet favor holder! This alone (or even bigger for more favors!) makes the perfect centerpiece.
These would also make the perfect treats for back-to-school, Halloween or stocking stuffers!

I'm excited to be sharing my first ever flip-style mini album.
It's so easy to put together and makes an adorable addition to a table display.
Aside from adding small photos to it, guests can also
write little notes inside the pages:

To get started I created the triangular base from a 5"X9"
sheet of patterned paper and three pieces of chipboard that measured
3.5"X5" (two pieces) and 2"X5".
I placed the chipboard onto the paper as below:
After attaching the chipboard to the paper, I made creases in
between the chipboard pieces and folded. Next, I used a hole punch
to make two sets of holes on both pieces of the 3.5" pages:
As you can see above, I also made a small paper topper to hold
the base together at the top.
I wanted to make a cleaner transition between the topper
and below, so I used the scallop border from the new Doodle Cuts
"Borders& Edges" to cut a blue border from cardstock.
For the cover I made a mat with the "Large Tags" Doodle Cuts and then
layered with a Doodle Pop, buttons and Chit Chat Die Cut!
I simply crafted the inner pages (as well as the cover above)
from a 4.25"X 6.5" paper that was folded in half. I corner rounded the bottom
edges after folding and hole punched the top.
All sorts of Doodle Cuts were used to make tags and mats for the following pages:
After decorating all of the pages, I used two 1" rings to clip them to the base
. Bows of ribbons were tied on and it's done!

Simply Spring Mini Travelers
Whether you need an Easter basket stuffer or a fun craft for kids,
these Simply Spring Mini Travelers are a breeze to put together!
For this duo, you will need: an 8X8 sheet protector (full sheet w/out pockets),
round elastic cording, scrapbook papers and embellishments. As far as "tools
", I've used a sewing machine, but this is optional if you don't have one.
To get started, I trimmed away the edge of the page protector
where the holes are located. Next, I cut a sheet of patterned
paper to 8X8 and inserted into the protector.
I cut the protector and paper (horizontally) and loaded the paper
into each sleeve with the opening at the top. One edge of the protector
will be left unattached, so I solved this by adding
an eyelet to hold the side closed:
Next, I scored a 1/2" spine into the paper/protector
(scored at 3.75" and 4.25") and then folded several times to create nice creases.
I used my sewing machine to create a zig-zag stitching
down the center of the spine. This just helps to secure the
protector, so you could hand-stitch, staple or use brads/eyelets
if you don't have a machine.
You will also see (above) that I hole punched an 1/8" hole
the top and bottom of the spine and also at the center of the spine.

For the closure, I knotted a small piece of elastic and slipped
through the middle hole (with the knot on the inside).
Now onto the pages! I cut six strips of double-sided paper
to 6.75" X 3.5", layered them all together (one on top of the other)
and inserted them through the elastic:
For the embellishing, I simply used a 2.5"square die to cut
mats and then added them with foam tape.
I also included some of the small stickers and sprinkles!
This recipe is for one of the mini travelers, so just repeat the process for other mini.
I added a ball chain through the eyelet at the back and loaded
it with a cute tag, shaped clips and then tied on a bow!
So perfect for an Easter basket stuffer or add photos
and give as a brag book to grandma!

BEST YEAR EVER JOURNAL CARD PORTFOLIO
Planner-lovers, cardmakers and scrapbookers alike would love to receive a handy "Journal Card Portfolio" such as this! Yesterday, at SIMPLE STORIES, I shared this fun spin on the traveler's notebook to create this unique gifting project.
To begin with the cover: I started with an 8.5"X11" piece of double-sided patterned paper and Scotch laminator with a laminating sheet. After lamination, I scored the piece at 5" and 6" and folded along the lines. Next, I used an 1/8" hole punch to make two holes at the top and bottom of the "spine". The holes were then threaded with a piece of 20mm white elastic cording and tied to create two loops for holding the inserts. I also punched a hole in the middle of the spine and made a loop of elastic to make the closure band.
For the two inserts: eight sheets of heavyweight cardstock (I used Neenah cardstock), were cut to 9.75"X8", scored in the middle and folded. The sheets were then divided into two sections so that four sheets were in each.
I crafted a cover for each section by covering a sheet of the heavyweight cardstock with patterned paper. The two sections were divided into January through June and July through December, so I used the "Best Year Ever Stamps" to identify these months. To color in the stampings, I used Sharpie markers!
Finally for the decorating and organizing of each of the pages! First, I cut apart ALL of the journal cards from the "Best Year Ever Essential Collection Kit" and corner rounded all of the edges (optional). To each of the "right-sided" pages, I added a pocket by using one of the 4X6 journal cards and scoring at 3/4" on the sides and bottom and then attaching with adhesive tape. The front of the pockets were embellished with various stickers, die-cuts and pocket squares.
On the left-hand side of the pages I actually used the leftover strip (from the top of each 12X12 paper) to create a vertical pop of color and then topped it with the month's sticker. Finally, I tucked in all of the cards to the premade pockets and used the elastic closure to neatly hold the pages together!
