Monogram Meets Washi

Because I do a lot of home-decor projects, I don't get a chance to display every single thing

 that I make...this is one of the reasons why I love making wreaths...I get to use them!  

We have three doors leading into the house and each one is adorned with some type of wreath or hanging.  

I created this sweet patriotic wreath for this week's

As you can see, I attached the chipboard letter to the straw wreath using a heavy-gauged wire.

When you're ready to move onto the next season or holiday, just unwrap the wire and 

attach a new decoration in the same fashion.

First, you will need a large, thick chipboard letter.  I picked this one up from Hobby Lobby, but

I also see that JoAnn's carries them as well.  The letter measures approximately 11" X 11".

1- Trace the letter onto a piece of 12X12 white cardstock; cut out

2- Paint the sides and back of the chipboard letter with desired acrylic paint; set aside

3- Select various washi tapes (I used the ones from the Stars & Stripes Collection)

4- Starting at the bottom of the white cardstock cut-out, begin applying strips of washi tape.

  Leave enough of a 'tail' so that you can wrap it around to the back of the cardstock...this will keep

 the tape from peeling up  (see below)

 After you have completely covered the cardstock letter you may want to machine stitch

around the perimeter before adhering it to the chipboard piece.

Use a high-tac adhesive or glue when applying the cardstock letter to the chipboard letter.

Decorate the front as desired.  For mine, I used a pennant die cut by Sizzix (Banners #2)

and cut the shapes from one of the 6X6 Stars & Stripes paper pad sheets.  

Next, I attached letters from the Ladybug Love Letters sticker sheet to spell out our last name.

Two little Doodle-Pop stars and a Sentiment Icon sticker adorn the sides of the banner.

I used a straight pick (or heavy-duty piercing tool) to create holes at the sides of the

chipboard letter.  I then threaded through enough wire so that it could be attached to the wreath.
